There is so much more to see in NYC that coming to this overly crowded street (you just cant enjoy the walk because its TOO crowded!) just to walk by major store chains and see billboards is just not worth smelling people's BO.

It all depends on where you are visiting from...most ppl from Europe will feel the difference between times square and a place like Leicester square in london...too dirty, rubbish everywhere, most of the ppl look wired , what happened to the lovely city we see on TV !!!

So much fun!! We went there during the day & night. Everyone needs to experience it at night. Don't get your picture taken with any characters, though, unless you are prepared to pay for them.

Time Square is somewhere everyone should experience once. The bright lights, busy streets, and chain stores make it bigger than life. After you see it once, avoid it at all costs for all the same reasons. Bright lights, busy streets, overpriced chain shops and restaurants, and too many people. There is no personal space here my friends. Look, you shouldn't... More

Something you have to see for yourself but it was to busy for me. Crowds everywhere made it hard to enjoy.

Times Square is a very busy place throughout the day because of all the advertizement boards that are always in lights and there are lots of small tables and chairs to watch the world go by. Shop always open till late and seems really busy at night.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
