We just went on the Chocolate Tour with Great NY Tours - there were 8 of us, 4 moms and 4 16-yr old daughters. Brendan was our guide and he was excellent. He stopped many times along the route to give us a little history about the neighborhoods we were in or to point out certain houses and landmarks. It... More

Five of us went on the Chocolate Tour of New York (3 adults, 2 kids ages 11 & 13) walking tour on 3/20/15 at noon. We all enjoyed the tour, but I gave it 3 stars for the following reasons: 1.) If you are only going to be in NYC for a short window of time, this tour probably wouldn't... More

I did the Drunk History tour with some friends and it was fine. We're all New Yorkers so we don't do many tourist-y activities, but this seemed like fun. The tour guide was mediocre, he seemed distracted and couldn't remember a lot of the stories. Overall, it was just okay- very, very light on the history and more about just... More

I bought this deal for 2 through Living Social. We booked the Great Food Tour and were not disappointed. Marcy was our tour guide and she was really great. She started the tour promptly and we had a history lesson, then started at Bleecker Street Pizza. We loved all of the stops and were full by the end of the... More

I found this tour through a Groupon deal. Figured I would try it out for a surprise for my daughter's birthday. So I bought the deal for 4 people! It was well worth it! It was me, my husband, our daughter and her friend. Our tour guide, Walter, was awesome. We took the Great Food Tour of New York which... More

I will start with that our tour guide never showed up. Therefore, my one star is merely because the customer service is so terrible. We called the listed phone number and after a half hour of standing in the FREEZING cold, with snow pelting down on us, and no one answering, we left. Not only did we attempt to call,... More

We also tried to take the Chocolate Tour in NYC on Fri 2/6. I cannot speak to the quality of the tour since we never got to take it! After attempting 3 times to reserve via their website using a Living Social voucher, I never got any reply or acknowledgement. I have been an IT customer service systems professional for... More

I took my daughter and some of her friends and we had a great time. The temperature was in the low twenties when we started, and got colder from there, but Marcie our tour guide had a good sense of humor about it, and seemed to adjust some of the stops as needed...though we would've liked to warm up inside... I took Great New York Tour's CHOCOLATE TOUR yesterday. We stopped at 5 shops. The tour guide shared interesting informative about the shops and their history, etc. and their connection to chocolate, but NOTHING was said about the tastings we had other than it's this type of chocolate or that flavor cupcake. For a tour marketed about chocolate, it wasn't.... More

being a native new yorker, i wasn't particularly looking forward to this tour, but we were really glad that we went! the tour took around 5 stops, from brick oven pizza, to authentic bbq, to homemade ice cream. Also, who knew there was a chocolate factory in brooklyn! In between each stop, our tour guide (brendan) was very engaging, and... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
