We love our time at the Central Park Zoo. I enjoyed and was surprised by the tranquil atmosphere achieved there. It isn't a huge zoo but it was a perfect getaway from the city sightseeing we had been doing over the last few days and it was perfectly engaging for our 6 yr old daughter We chose the total experience,... I went here with a friend in August on a weekday afternoon. It is very small, even smaller than the Queens Zoo, and rather expensive even for the basic ticket ($12). That said it was a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours. I always love the rainforest exhibit where you can see the birds up close in an... More

I love all of the WCS zoos including Central Park zoo. Bronx Zoo is great, it is big and has lots of different animals...Central Park zoo is great because it also has a nice selection of animals, but is small enough to see in a day, and is the right size for the attention span of a 10 year old.

Its not fair to judge Central Park Zoo with the Bronx Zoo but if you had one day to visit a NYC zoo, go to the Bronx Zoo. Central Park Zoo is not surprisingly small but there is very little in terms of animals to see. The Penguin Feeding (10:30) is fun ; Tropic Zone was fun with different birds... More

The Central Park Zoo is okay. It's really quite small, but does have some charm. The sea lions were very entertaining, and the snow leopards are beautiful. The cost was $12 per adult; not too expensive in the big scheme, but the zoo is very tiny (especially if you've been to San Diego, St. Louis, National, etc.) This zoo will... More

As others have pointed out, it's a very small zoo, so don't expect a huge variety of animals. Still, the very smallness makes it the perfect place to bring younger kids. They can see a lot without having to walk huge distances, and the whole place can be covered in about 90 minutes. The penguin feedings and sea lion feedings... More

Was expecting less of this zoo given it is relatively small and in the middle of NYC but was pleasantly surprised. Cost was reasonable, no long queues (we went mid-August) and enough to entertain a 7 and 15 year old. Sea Lion show as you enter was good and all sides get a great view. Drinks weren't too badly priced... More

We hadn't planned on visiting the Zoo but we're glad we did as it was very enjoyable and very good value for money. We'd highly recommend.

It's a very small zoo. There were Very few animals. There was a seal show. A polar bear. There was a nice petting zoo area. I was excited to see the 4d rio movie but the line was long and the kids (7 and 13 year old) vetoed me. it was expensive considering the 70 dollars to park a few... More

We went to the zoo in the afternoon a couple of hours before closing. It was busy but not crowded and, no lineups. We took our time and enjoyed both the zoo and the adjoining children's zoo in under two hours!
