The Manhattan Skyline is gorgeous, Absolutely beautiful from all angles. Seeing it from the water at night is particularly stunning.

We saw the Manhattan sky line by night from The Empire State Building and by day from the "Top of the Rock" Rockefeller Building.Very busy at the Empire so a bit of a queue and wait but no time limit as to how long you stay once you're up there. The "Rock" gives a brilliant view of Central Park amongst... More

Took the Staten Island ferry after dark and saw lower Manhattan Skyline. Good views along with view of Statue of Liberty. You can take the return ferry without waiting, all at no cost.

Best viewed from Hudson River - I took sightseeing boat which provided lots of opportunity to photograph this view. Also some nice views from Brooklyn - especially via night tour bus/boat

Good to see this iconic skyline 'in the flesh', after seeing it so many times on TV. Our best view was from the boat coming back from Ellis Island.

While Manhattan is clearly a concrete jungle it is probably the most impressive skyline anywhere in the world, not just in the USA. It's a shame there aren't more trees there but then I guess it wouldn't be Manhattan if it were different.

did the night tour on the green bus which takes about two hours, don't go upstairs on the open deck if it is windy as it's freezing. we enjoyed it even though we were cold. The tour guide LW is brilliant, he's like a sponge he knew everything and could answer every question that was asked. Well worth doing

On manhattan it is hard to see. But landing in Newark, looking from the staten island ferry or walking across Brooklyn bridge it will be right ther in front of you - it is addictive.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
