Thus is such an icon that it has to be seen - and it does noes not disappoint from every angle. The best angle IMHO is from the water to get a real feel for the splendour of it. This does mean that you really do need to get on the water and either the Staten Island ferry or the... More

One of the nicest ways to see the skyline is by riverboat. We got our riverboat ticket for about 10. Dollars each, it last about hour and half, and it is great. You see so much and we got really quite close to Statue of Liberty, the guide was good and told us lots about all the landmarks...most poignant was... More

From across the East River Manhattan looks like all the pictures (and films) you've seen that are taken of the City. Standing there you can see all the iconic buildings in one go. Plus it's a quick ride from Manhattan on the subway - so why not make the short trip and walk along a part of NY that was,... More

Both brilliant. Different experiences. Felt Rockefeller had 'the edge' in my experience although both worth a visit and how can you come to New York and not experience these!

Get yourself down to the Staten Island Ferry dock. Ride the free ferry to and from Staten Island, and get great views of the Manhattan skyline, the new WTC tower, and the Statue of Liberty along the way. Walk an hour or two through one of New York's most interesting neighborhoods to the Brooklyn Bridge, and then another hour to... More

The Manhattan skyline is awe-inspiring. You can see it from the Empire State Building, Top of the Rock, helicopter or boat tour, the free Staten Island Ferry, or the ferry to and from Liberty & Ellis Islands. Get your camera ready no matter how you see it. If you can be viewing it at sunset or sunrise, it is even... More

The Manhattan Skyline was lovely. We saw it from the free Staten Island Ferry, from the Brooklyn Bridge and fromManhatten itself. It was poignant and a real and all for free when you get there.
