We go here several times a year. I used to be sure this was the best jazz club in all of New York: friendly service, the best jazz club food, the most respectful management in a business that generally treats its customers like won't-be-back-again tourists (which most of them in fact are). For the most part these things are still... More

We went to see Maria Schneider's big band over Thanksgiving weekend with a large party. We reserved in advance and got a great table right where Maria was conducting. This review is about the venue, not the band, but I have to say that the band was totally excellent … everyone in the group was 100% invested in Maria's music.... More

First time here but not the last. Jazz Standard is a cozy club with top flight jazz in an atmosphere conducive to listening. Acoustics and site lines were excellent. The "no drink" minimum is a welcome deviation from what appears to be standard policy at many other clubs. Our waiter was friendly and attentive without pestering us to purchase more... More

Saw Ravi coltrane with a group that must not have played together much. Each of the guys pretty much did his own thing. One disjoint solo followed by another pretending to be a song. Disappointing

On out recent trip to NYC we decided to see Danilo Perez at the Jazz Standard. The show was great and the room is excellent for listening with good sightlines and a welcome "no loud talking" policy that every music showcase club should have. The food we ordered - rib assortment and house special endive salad - were delicious and... More

Having visited the Blue Smoke BBQ house upstairs on a previous visit and having had a good experience we decided to try the Jazz Club in the basement downstairs. The food is the same as upstairs but is served in a dungeon like cellar. We were seated in a booth facing the stage which barely gave the two of us... More

A little pricey but it was the best jazz concert I'm ever been to. Get there early to find a good table.

It was a below freezing night out, but the Jazz Standard was packed. Not only was the jazz outstanding, but the food and drink were also great (not usually the case in most of the jazz venues). I have been to jazz clubs all over New York City, but this is probably my favorite spot. I suggest you make a... More

Really cool and fun! My daughter picked this place because of the legendary performers. It lived up to its billing. For a $30 cover each it's a bargain at twice the price. Our reserved table awaited us, even though we arrived about two min before the performance started- hung up on the subway. The music was great and the food... More

Maria Schneider Orchestra was magnificent, but during the entire show servers walked back and forth in front of me, often bumping into me, making it impossible to concentrate on the music. I have never had a worse evening at a music venue. Be aware before you book that this could happen to you. It was a dreadful experience.
