Great music offerings, great sound, and not as packed in as many jazz clubs. This informal spot serves rather pricey, surprisingly good southern influenced food and the tables can be very close. You will hear all the pre-music conversations around you. Good idea to make a reservation, and you can just order a beer. The sets are about 60 minutes,... More

First let me say the music here was outstanding. We were very impressed and could have listened for hours. We sometimes felt a little invisible by the staff, but not a major complaint. A very chill atmosphere, and the drinks were very good.

After seating ,we were attended to by a very arrogant waitress who didn't know what her job description is.For daring to complain we were refused wine and told that we seemed drunk ,though we drove all the way from Bronx to the location. The manager on duty was no help,he chose to side with the dumb waitress instead of his clients.Pity... We recently visited Jazz Standard as part of a trip to New York. I am a big fan and have visited a couple on New York before and can say our experience was definitely up there in comparison. We went for the 7:30 show on a Sunday night and the room is quite convivial with a good view of the... More

This club delivers a solid package of good sound and good food. The layout is one of the best and the food is as good as it gets for a club. It is important to watch the schedule and find the artist that you are interested in. I really enjoyed it.

Jazz Standard is still among the best because so many other jazz clubs are flawed, charging a lot of money and taking advantage of the plentiful tourist trade. However Jazz Standard continues to slide. Once it was a Danny Meyer restaurant inside a great jazz club. Now it bears little resemblance to a Danny Meyer restaurant, where you expect the... More

There are so many great places to hear Jazz in NYC. What makes the Standard stand out? First, I always hear an interesting performance here in a cozy, intimate setting. Second the food from Blue Smoke -- the Danny Meyer barbecue joint upstairs -- is top notch. Third, the price is always reasonable. Fourth, the audience is knowledgeable and respectful.... More

My opening qualification always in reviewing a jazz club is that I’m not reviewing the act(s). I’m reviewing the venue. I made two trips to Jazz Standard during my recent trip to NYC. Fell in love on my first visit then saw some blemishes on the second. It’s a great place to see jazz. The room is good sized and... More

I went twice to hear Butler, Bernstein and the Hot 9, once on my own and once with a 10 year old. Two excellent evenings! I loved the atmosphere, warm and friendly but with a nice buzz as the place gets full. If you want to choose your place to sit, get there when the doors open (there's a line... More

Loved this Jazz Club experience -- from the food to the music, ambience and service -- all top notch. We sat right near the stage and tested some of their specialty drinks. We loved the chicken wings and the kale salad. The burger was excellent. The ribs were good. We saw the cornbread madeleines at another table and they looked... More
