When traveling to New York City don't miss this little museum at 88th St. and 5th Avenue. It offers a superb collection of German and Austrian art from impressionists to expressionists. The star of the collection is Gustav Klimt's Frau Bach Bauer, but along with this showy golden painting are little gems by Egan Scheele, Oscar Kokoschka and other Austrian... More

Treat yourself to strudel and cream or a luncheon enjoy It feels very European and kids will enjoy the fancy elegant digs. The museum has lovely exhibits but I believe they don't let children upstairs under the age of 12 or 13. My 10 year old very mature was sorry to miss the exhibit.

This is a wonderul museum - small with a big presence. The Kandinskys and Klimt paintings were my favorite but there were so many other well known European artists as well. The museum opens at 11:00, but go early and have a wonderful breakfast. The cafe opens at 9:00. A beautiful cafe reminiscent of an old world restaurant.

This beautiful building is home to an outstanding collection of German and Austrian expressionist art and design. Cafe Sabarsky recreates an authentic Austrian cafe experience.

The Neue Galerie is the most recent addition to Manhattan's Museum Mile (Fifth Avenue), and a special one it is. Located in one of the great mansions on the avenue once belonging to a Vanderbilt, the Galerie houses a small but outstanding collection of late 19th and early 20th century Austrian and German art, furniture, clocks and silverware. Of special... More

It would be easy to miss this small museum tucked between the Met and the Guggenheim but seek it out. Glorious architecture, fine German expressionism, a beautiful Klimt or two, lovely clocks, just very very pleasing.

Located in a beautiful mansion on Fifth Avenue and E. 86th Street, the Neue Galerie hosts an incredible collection of Austrian and German art of the early 20th century. The two exhibitions that I visited (GERMAN AND AUSTRIAN DECORATIVE ARTS FROM JUGENDSTIL TO THE BAUHAUS and GERMAN EXPRESSIONISM 1900-1930) were amazing. Beautiful erotic drawings by Klimt and Schiele, among others.... More

The main reason for visiting the Neue Galerie, which occupies a mansion at 86th Street, is Gustav Klimt's portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer. However, the gallery has a relatively small but impressive collection of works focusing on Austrian and German art of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It is perhaps not a must-see attraction like the Guggenheim two blocks... More

The guide at the Met tecommended this en route to the Guggenheim. A great recommendation for those who love German expressionism and Art Deco. Fabulous posters, works by Schiele and Klimt and only one gallery open! Worth it for the building alone
