I was totally shocked when my 9 year old son was not allowed to enter the museum. Their policy is no children under 12 allowed. Obviously I didn't enter myself after they humiliated my son. There can be no reasonable explanation for a place calling itself a museum to simply exclude children (and adults with families). Shame on them! more

I went to the Neue Galerie yesterday with one purpose in mind- to see Klimt's Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer. In this regard, I was not at all disappointed. The painting is magnificent. I could stand in front of it for hours, just moving from side to side and back and forth to see it from different perspectives. I'd seen the... more

Admission cost is $15 and they won't let you take iin a water bottle. Once inside you climb winding staircases to the second, then third floors. The second floor houses the famed $134 million Klimt painting 'Adele Bloch Baeur,' along with Klimt's 'Black Feather Hat' and 'The Park of Schloss Kammer.' Very classy. I could have stood there for hours,... more

I had a free Friday evening and didn't feel like dealing with huge crowds. This was a great little museum to visit on my own. I had read about the Adele Bloch-Bauer portrait and it was great to see it in person. The other exhibits were very interesting and I learned more about early 20th century Austrian art than I... more

If you get tired of the crowded, overwhelming museums of NYC, and enjoy the expressionist and early modern art movements, this is a wonderful museum to visit! Only a couple floors, so manageable in a couple hours without rushing through the exhibit. When I went, the exhibit was Van Gogh and his influence on the German artists - very nicely... more

The Neue Gallerie in New York City on 86th at 5th is wonderful, especially if you love Van Gogh, which I do. It's a small gallery so it will not take too much time out of your day, and you will get to see a lot of great stuff, including other Austrian painters plus the famous Klimt paintings that were... more

We went here on a Sunday when the famous Klimt painting of Adele Bloch-Bauer was on display so as you can imagine, the place was crowded. However, we felt it was well worth the price of admission. Unfortunately, when we were there, the third floor was closed off due to the fact that they were preparing an exhibit. This galerie... more
