It tells the story of an Irish musician and a Czech immigrant drawn together by their shared love of music. Over the course of one fateful week, their unexpected friendship and collaboration evolves into a powerful but complicated romance, heightened by the raw emotion of the songs they create together. Brought to the stage by an award-winning team of visionary artists and featuring an ensemble cast of gifted actor/musicians, once is a musical celebration of life and love: thrilling in its originality, daring in its honesty... and unforgettable in every way. « less

For us, nothing special about the show, perhaps only the Pre-Show, where audience members get to stroll around the stage in an informal way while cast members play instruments and sing some fun songs. There was nothing special, thrilling or sweeping (musically or otherwise) to support what we learned was a Tony Award winning musical. We actually almost nodded out... More

Loved the cast of musicians! They played well and enthusiastically. All the audience seemed to know that the show really starts at 7:30 with the "pub" on stage open for drinks and the cast already in costume playing a number of songs. Unfortunately, very few people are allowed onstage, so don't expect to be among them. I found the story... More

This is not your typical Broadway musical. Not better or worse just very different. Just be forewarned. While it may not leave you tapping your toes as you exit the building, if you have an appreciation of musicians, creativity and originality you really must experience "Once." From the incorporation of the set (where you can go on stage before the... More

This is a unique musical and won 12 Tony awards as I recall. Every cast member is a remarkable musician.....some playing several different instruments. Beautiful singing. The performances are outstanding. We loved it.

The music was ok, nothing memorable. Call me old, but the old musicals (Cats,West Side Story, Evita ,etc.) would have me humming their songs long after I've seen the play. Nowadays, I find myself yawning and wishing the show would end at the new and recycled musicals.

Get there early so that you can go on the stage with the performers and have a drink from the on stage bar. The theater has the old fashion small seats and as a big man was a little uncomfortable. I just need to loose 25 pounds. The music was awesome and the acting was real good. The story is... More

Great story, music, and performance. The pace of the show was a little slow at times but overall well worth it.

2012 Tony award winner and great ensemble cast (original?) that were engaging throughout. We'll remember this experience for a while. Interesting trick we didn't know about where people at the beginning waited to get on stage for a drink (also at intermission) to get close to the cast (leaving just as the regular play started, post pre-story musical performance). Definitely... More

Enjoyed this musical and all the songs. There are good seats all over the house. Get there early to enjoy a drink onstage.
