It tells the story of an Irish musician and a Czech immigrant drawn together by their shared love of music. Over the course of one fateful week, their unexpected friendship and collaboration evolves into a powerful but complicated romance, heightened by the raw emotion of the songs they create together. This was my fourth show on Broadway in one month (I was there for business and took advantage of being in NYC!). Perhaps because I'd already seen 3 other fabulous shows, my expectations were very high for this one. Upon my arrival to the theater, I noticed the musicians were on stage playing and singing and there was a cash... More

I want to see the movie before reviewing the musical and I can say I appreciate more the musical than the movie. Music is the same, but musical is more funny and passionating. I've not seen the original cast show but I really love Once and I've also bought the CD soundrack. This is a non conventional musical and almost... More

Had a great evening. Loved the music and actors. Kinda slow to watch. Being Irish, it makes it a little to easier understand irish culture. Overall, good show. P.S. People from county Cork saved Ireland ! LOL ( gotta see the show to understand)

I saw this show when it was in off-Broadway Previews, and loved that it was true to one of my favorite movies (many will not know of the movie, due to its limited release in theaters, but grew to be known due to enthusiastic word of mouth). Almost a year later, I took out of town guests to see it... More

When we entered the theater 20 minutes before the play started the stage was full of patrons and performers. It was like a scene from bar in Dublin, Without the drinking. While the performance did drag a little in the beginning it did come together nicely as it progressed. We were in the second row stage center. The sound was... More

I've been to many musicals and this is the fourth time in 20 years when I've heard something unique in terms of music and sound on a Broadway stage. The first was voice of Christine at Playhouse Square in Cleveland. Ohio, playing the Phantom of the Opera. The second was the cast of The Lion King. The third was the... More

I enjoyed this show, but could not seem to shake the feeling that it was lacking something. Don't get me wrong, the music was amazing, the storyline was basic bit we'll done. The set was very basic and you had to be quite imaginative to keep up with what was happening at times. Overall, I recommend this show if you... More

A very upbeat musical with enough of a story line to make it more than just a collection of songs strung together, and with an un-expected ending! Quite different with no separate orchestra but rather the cast all being incredibly accomplished musicians as well as singers and actors and providing their own accompaniment. A great night.

Great music, totally enjoyable performance. Outrageous prices for tickets. The theatre was in walking distance from up hotel so we could avoid the traffic.
