On a walking tour it is so important to have a tour guide that knows what they are talking about. Whatever tour you take with LESHPWT you can be assured that you will get knowledgeable tour guides.

Did the Lower east side Then and Now Tour. We had Michael as our guide. We met in The neighborhood and walked through the most significant Lower east side streets, landmarks, stores. This was well worth the price. Such an interesting and enjoyable time with a real expert on the subject. The highlight for me was getting to see the actual bar that was Lucky Luciano's speakeasy back in the day. My wife and 17 year old son both really enjoyed this tour as well. Eric has a wealth of knowledge. We... More

We were very pleased with Eric and his knowledge of the history of Little Italy. His knowledge and ability to answer our questions made the tour more personalized. Definitely would recommend this tour for its authenticity!

Wow!! is all we can say. Eric is amazing and we enjoyed the tour so much. So glad we went on the Mafia tour and we learned so much history that we could have never found out otherwise. We will make the LES tour our #1 priority when we return to NYC next year. Don't try to do your own... More

What a fantastic experience. Eric is very knowledgable and very well versed on the subject, and he is just a wealth of information. We were fascinated from beginning to end. I grew up on Long Island, and so hearing the evolution of the city I grew up around from a Mafia viewpoint was just awesome. And I can't say enough... More

Everything from the history of the area to the architecture of the buildings to the local candy store was explained. Can't wait to return to Manhattan so that we can take the other tours such... Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
