I bought tickets to the mafia tour for my parents and myself and loved every minute of it! It was a small casual group, the guide Eric Ferrara was on time and very friendly. He's a very qualified guy, definitely knows his stuff. Aside from publishing several books on NYC history he's done historical consultations so to speak for HBO's...

I am generally leery of large tours and seeing groups huddled around a guide at NYC street corners makes me cross the street. On an impulse however I joined the LES walking tour on a Wednesday afternoon, which meant that there were only two paying customers. This tour was a highlight of our trip. It appealed to everyone in our group, from middle-aged women to a 20-year-old man. Eric Ferrara knows his stuff and was able to condense two centuries of Mafia development, and many decades of Mafia influence in NY, into a succinct and understandable account. Great way to spend two hours.

What a fantastic tour! The two hours just flew by. Our guide, Rob Hollander, made history come to life for us, not only with his great stories, but with lots of pictures to show us what the area once looked like. We would recommend this tour for anyone who wants to find out about this most interesting section of NYC....

This tour was jam-packed with the colorful history of the Mob. Our tour guide put this information out in such an exciting way and injected some humorous stories also. Lower East Side History Project Walking Tours are great! All of their guides are native New Yorkers, and are community activists and preservationists who have lived and/or frequented the East Village and the Lower East Side.
