Been coming to NYC since 1970 because it always felt like plugging into the center of the World to me. This tour and the information we learned fully confirmed that feeling. And the history of Manhattan really begins and grows from what we know as the Lower East Side. We've been on other fantastic tours and have one simple rule....

Like many visitors to NY we looked at many tours and we are so pleased to have found this one. If you like your history and you want a guide that knows his stuff, but who is a great person, then we would recommend you to Eric. This was just so interesting and engaging - at a good price.

This is probably the best tour I've ever been on, and I've been on many. Eric really knew his material and was excited to tell us and show us where so many interesting events had taken place. He had wonderful maps, photos and stories to share, and was very friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this to anyone looking to...

I bought tickets to the mafia tour for my parents and myself and loved every minute of it! It was a small casual group, the guide Eric Ferrara was on time and very friendly. He's a very qualified guy, definitely knows his stuff. Aside from publishing several books on NYC history he's done historical consultations so to speak for HBO's...

I am generally leery of large tours and seeing groups huddled around a guide at NYC street corners makes me cross the street. On an impulse however I joined the LES walking tour on a Wednesday afternoon, which meant that there were only two paying customers. It felt more like a girls' outing than an organized tour, and even a...

This tour was a highlight of our trip. It appealed to everyone in our group, from middle-aged women to a 20-year-old man. Eric Ferrara knows his stuff and was able to condense two centuries of Mafia development, and many decades of Mafia influence in NY, into a succinct and understandable account. Great way to spend two hours.

What a fantastic tour! The two hours just flew by. Our guide, Rob Hollander, made history come to life for us, not only with his great stories, but with lots of pictures to show us what the area once looked like. We would recommend this tour for anyone who wants to find out about this most interesting section of NYC....

This tour was jam-packed with the colorful history of the Mob. Our tour guide put this information out in such an exciting way and injected some humorous stories also. When he first said the tour would be 2 hours, I thought to myself-"Oh no!". When our guide said the tour was over, I couldn't believe the tour went by so...

Lower East Side History Project Walking Tours are great! All of their guides are native New Yorkers, and are community activists and preservationists who have lived and/or frequented the East Village and the Lower East Side. Their tours are a fascinating look into the many aspects of this historic neighborhood, from the early beginnings as farmlands, all the way up...
