The rest of the group didn't show up so Eric took me and my girlfriend on what became a private tour of the lower east side. And we ended up spending more than the time set out because it was so interesting I just had to ask questions the whole time. Which was all dealt with patiently and with much... More

Our family booked a LESHP walking tour, looking to learn not only about this part of NYC but also mafia and mob lore. We have done every Las Vegas tour on the subject and we were all excited to get info from the premiere guide himself! The information on this tour is top notch, this isnt any bogus theme park... I took the Lower East Side Then and Now Tour with Michael, and it was excellent! I was doing research for a book, and he was really helpful in making the tour useful for what I needed. I'd highly recommend these to anyone!

We were looking forward to the tour but unfortunately it was a "no show" and there was no email about any cancellation.

Are you sure you have the right organization? We get confused with others frequently... and have no record of what you say in this review. What tour was it? What date? Thanks. More

My husband is interested in anything having to do with the mob/mafia so I knew this was something that would interest him. The best part was that even though I have little knowledge about it, I still very much enjoyed it as well. We saw many interesting places and it was obvious that Eric knows what he is talking about.... More

Astonishing tour with Eric, who knows everything on the Italian mob history. Good to have someone like him.

Eric Ferrara was a great tour guide. If you want to get away from the typical tourist nonsense of NYC, I highly recommend this tour. I walked from my hotel on 7th Ave to the meeting spot, which was actually a lot better than zipping past everything via cab or public transportation. It was nice to hear Eric call out... More

Eric was an awesome tour guide. All I knew about the mafia was what I had seen in movies and we wanted a more historical and accurate guided tour. This did not disappoint. We loved hearing about the way business worked in the LES back in the day when it was controlled by the mafia and about how the children... More

This walking tour was really incredible. I learned so much about the tenements, how they've changed both architecturally, ethnically, and culturally over the past 150 years or so. Phenomenal.

Eric was out tour guide. His passion for the subject matter cannot be overstated. He is very interesting and keeps the tour moving. You are introduced to sights and facts that really bring back the history of the mafia. He has first-hand knowledge of the families and how the mob functions. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone!

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
