A landmark and haven for bibliophiles and others who like delving into books (and not just best-sellers), the Strand is a wonderful place for those who love to read and also to feel a book’s cover and paper which are, to me, part of its soul. Definitely better than going onto the ‘net to purchase books, going to the Strand... More

Fantastic old school book store near Union Square with lots of little extras for sale like t-shirts with original and cool book covers, Strand messenger bags.

If I’m honest we’ve visited a number of better bookstores in our travels around the world with a much better cache of used fiction – I think if you spent enough time here you might find some of a reasonable value. Still, if you prefer hunting in person – which can be fun – the Strand is probably for you... More

If you are from out of town or are local but have not visited in some time, come to this incredible destination. Strand is unbelievable. I was there a few days ago and was "blown away" by the shear number of books, the knowledge of the staff, the foreign language sections and the fun items for book lovers of every... More

This bookstore is always super-stocked with new and used books. If you're looking for a book that's been out of print for a while, or a book you've had a hard time finding, there's a good chance it's here. There are several floors of books, all beautifully organized, but if you can't find what you're looking for the staff is... More

And yet, I couldn't find more than just a few books by my favorite authors. The store is actually overwhelming because there are books EVERYWHERE! I was surprised that there were so many new books, I had expected a used bookstore but four floor of books is pretty impressive! More interesting and better stocked than the Barnes and Nobel around... More

BookLovers, You've had that dream of walking on streets of books and seeing clouds of words and pages and even possibly having book birds flying by, the setting was probably The Strand even if you didn't know it at the time. Books are literally everywhere. All kinds. New and used. Recent and classic. Signed and unsigned. People are also all... More

This bookstore is not a bookstore. It's a heaven, a sanctuary for book lovers, a place that has a lifting soul for the spirit of visitors. You can immediately understand the different atmosphere in this huge store as soon as you set a foot in there. Please don't think it's a supermarket for books, it's a place where you see... More

The Strand Bookstore is huge! Multiple floors and lots of structured chaos. Lots of ramsj outside. Stroll here for hours and don't forget to check out the great paintings of Stephen "ESPO" Powers outside and in the cellar!

I really miss all the reviewer's copies - sad to see they are mostly fiction and down to a few rows in the basement. So many new books and tchotchkes. Same crazy group of booksellers & cashiers. Usually only get here once a year or so but won't feel bad if I miss it on my next trip. The bathroom... More
