Wow, wow, wow! This place is AMAZING! No matter what you like to read, the Strand will have it. I easily could have spent a day here just looking at all of their stuff. It was so big and had so many books it was like dying and going to book heaven. Be sure to check out their rare book... More

If you like books this is a MUST go location. I personally have not seen so many books in one location before. There are three floors to this building. This bookstore also offers to buy your used books. There are racks after racks of used books (approximately US$2-$3) outside for sale. They also have new books at a discount of... More

A mind-boggling selection of books. The Strand has the largest selection of any bookstore I've been to. From out-of-print and obscure titles to new books, Strand is one-stop shopping. Bookworms must visit. The photography section alone would have taken me hours to look through if I hadn't been to tired. Go when you're full of energy and haven't been walking... More

Even if you are not buying anything it's definitely worth seeing. All these shelves full of books, at all prices. The staff is very helpful.

What a treat it was to visit The Strand Bookstore! Forget the chains, come here for new, used, rare and out-of-print books you won't get elsewhere. Much variety is available for book lovers and collectors. It was busy, but library-quiet and respectful inside. The clerks are eager to assist with any request. In addition to books, there are interesting and... More

Anyone who loves books and loves to read beware. You will never want to leave this store. Pick up hard to find used books at great prices or browse the shelves in your favorite area. You'll be surprised by the titles they carry, things you might never have known existed. If you order on line ahead of time, they will... More

The best if all worlds. Both used and new. An amazing selection. It's best if you go with an idea of what you want prior to your visit.

Too bad that Strand doesn't have locations outside of NYC. Oh, yeah; that's why the internet was invented, right? This has always been one of my favorite places to shop in Manhattan. As an avid reader, I could get lost for HOURS at Strand. And with the disappearance of large box bookstores (ex. Border's), it's so nice to be able... More

It was the best shopping place I've visited during my trip to NYC. It's a heaven for book-lovers! I've spent about an hour looking for the best cooking book. What is more, books are really cheap. They also have few interesting and original (but not so cheap unfortunately) souvenirs like cards and posters.

Four floors of books books and more books. This place was SO crowded it was a little obscene, but my bibliophile daughter was in seventh heaven! What was nice was that I didn't get that queasy feeling some people get when shopping in antique or old book stores. Don't know if it's the dust, bad vibes or something else, but... More
