Description: Most walking tours point and stare at New York-with Streetwise New York...
Most walking tours point and stare at New York-with Streetwise New York, you live it. We explore neighborhoods, recount history and study contrasts-uncovering the true New York, that's melted into pizza slices, hidden in subways, and carried in the ever-changing stories of its 8 million people. From the swankiest stretches of Fifth Avenue to the grimiest of graffitied alleys, we share tales passed down from our grandparents, gleaned from books, and whispered on street corners. A great activity for former New Yorkers who never took the time to learn about the city.

This tour is a great way to learn about NYC whether you have lived here your whole life or are a first time visitor. Just because you were born and raised here or visited before doesn't mean you know the stories behind the architecture, art, music, food or history. Patrick was engaging, informative, pleasant to be around and never tour... More

We visited NYC for a couple of days in mid July from the UK. Dan was a fantastic guide around New York City during our six-hour private tour (for a family of 2 adults + 2 teens). Before the tour we were considering leaving early due to the hot weather, but once we were on the tour we enjoyed it... More

Dan was a knowledgeable and friendly guide. He took us walking through Manhattan. We learned a lot in a very short time. We did the tour on our first day which was great because we could go back and explore those places later. It was a hot summer day but kids (13,15) and adults did well. We were able to... More

I was in NYC on July with a girlfriend, our first-time!. The Brooklyn Bridge tour was one of the best, Dan was excellent explaining the area and showing us the landmarks. Thank you Dan from Vancouver Island - Canada. Rosa Powell

I took a 3-hour solo tour with Dan in June. This was my first real visit to NYC. I booked at the last minute after I was already in town, but Dan managed to fit me in. We saw Greenwich Village, the East Village, the Lower East Side, Chinatown, Little Italy, and Soho. The tour was basically created on the... More

The tour was above and beyond what we expected. The tour guide-Andrew was thorough in explaining how to use the subway system and gave detailed directions to our first attraction before meeting up. When we did connect, Andrew took my teenage son and I to places in New York we would never have found on our own in the short... More

We started our trip to New York with a Streetwise walking tour with Dan. This was a great way to start the trip as it gave us a good orientation around the city. Dan is a friendly knowledgeable guy and we walked through the Meatpacking district, to Greenwich village and Soho. We stopped by a really interesting music shop in... More

After reading the reviews here, I contacted Streetwise with my wish list of places to visit. Dan's response prompt and professional. Sonya was our guide for a 4.5 hour tour of Manhattan. She is a delight! Her knowledge and obvious love of the city make her an excellent guide. It honestly felt more like a friend was showing us around... More

I'm thrilled to write a 5 Star review for Streetwise! They offer the very BEST personalized tours of NYC that are first class. My daughter and I made a first time visit to NYC to celebrate her high school graduation & I contacted Dan to set up a tour. He was quick to respond to my email, very professional &... More

I think I have been more excited about writing this review of anything else from our trip to Washington DC/New York City. We were traveling from Washington for the day and booked a 4.5 hour personal tour with Dan. Our bus was late leaving Washington and Dan was MORE than accommodating. He was waiting on the sidewalk outside our bus... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
