We explore neighborhoods, recount history and study contrasts—uncovering the true New York, that’s melted into pizza slices, hidden in subways, and carried in the ever-changing stories of its 8 million people. From the swankiest stretches of Fifth Avenue to the grimiest of graffitied alleys, we share tales passed down from our grandparents, gleaned from books, and whispered on street corners. We did a tour of the Lower East Side and China Town with Dan. Enjoyed Essex Market, Unique Candy Store and the bargain of NYC (five dumplings for a $1). Great way to learn about the immigration to NYC in that area, street art, past gang activity and the changes in the living conditions. You will love it!

We had a wonderful tour hosted by Sonya. She was friendly, informative and showed us so much more of new York than we ever would have! We wanted to do the lower areas, so we did East Village, Chelsea, Soho, Little Italy, China Town, Greenwich Village and the High Line. It was fantastic and well worth the $300 for our... More

We had a tour with Dan that took us through the Lower East Side and China Town - it was so fun! Dan clearly knew what he was talking about, and pointed out many things that we would never had noticed if we had not been on this tour (old architecture, interesting landmarks, famous street art, famous institutions within the... At first the $300 was a bit scary but its worth every penny. Dan was a fantastic tour guide and very patient with us. He showed us how to use the subway and took us all around NYC. You get your money's worth and he is very careful to tailor everything to what you want to do. You simply can't... More

My daugher and I had the pleasure of spending Mother's Day morning with Dan. We asked him to take us to places that "real" New Yorkers go. He did not disappoint! He met us up at our hotel and showed us how to use the subway (very easy). He had lots of interesting stories about the sites we visited -... More

After much debate my mum and I decided to do the Immigrant NY tour as I had been on a food tour of Little Italy and Chinatown previously. The advertised Streetwise tour covered the same ground but looked more extensive as it included regions I had not visited, such as Queens... We met Andrew at the Essex St market on... More

My two daughters (ages 8.5 and 11) and I met Andrew at our hotel in Times Square on Mother's Day, and we literally hit the ground running! We had a great time with our tailored tour of the city. I wanted my girls to see and experience as much of the city as possible in our three night stay. After... More

My husband surprised me with a 3 day trip to New York for my 42nd Birthday and I had never been. As you can imagine, I wanted to do it all in 3 days and.....I did. I made a list of everything I wanted to see and then I found Streetwise Tours on a random website. All the reviews were... More

Our Tour guide was Andrew who was friendly and very knowledgeable of the area our tour covered. The tour took in Chelsea Market, the high line and greenwich village finishing in Washington Square. I would be happy to recommend this tour company to anyone who is travelling to New york. The tour was organised by the hotel I was staying... More

My husband and I went on a Streetwise tour and it was a great intro into the crazy and amazing city that is NYC! We were really impressed by how knowledgable our guide Dan was and the way he tailored the tour to our interests and personalities. Would be happy to recommend this tour company to anyone!
