Description: Most walking tours point and stare at New York-with Streetwise New York...
Most walking tours point and stare at New York-with Streetwise New York, you live it. We explore neighborhoods, recount history and study contrasts-uncovering the true New York, that's melted into pizza slices, hidden in subways, and carried in the ever-changing stories of its 8 million people. From the swankiest stretches of Fifth Avenue to the grimiest of graffitied alleys, we share tales passed down from our grandparents, gleaned from books, and whispered on street corners. As Our hotel Pod51 offered these walks for free to their guests, we did 2 tours With Dan & co. Both the Brooklyn-tour and the Meatpacking - Soho - Greenwich Village tour were great! I highly recommend this if you want an insider's view of NY and to Discover neighbourhoods and sights you'd never find on Your own. Walk the... More

Patrick was our guide on a 3 hour adventure of some of the most incredible street art in the Bushwick area of Brooklyn. He was informative, insightful and easily adjusted to our interests as we moved along the streets. Considering that Patrick had two 50 year olds and two 20-somethings....our interests and energy varied BUT we all had an amazing... More

We (mom and three teens) just did a six hour tour with Dan. We only had the day in town, and he gave us a great overview of the city with loads of history and fun facts. Besides being full of information Dan wanted to make sure we were all happy - and we are!

We did the Street art/China Town tour with Patrick - it was great learning about this area and there's no way we would have found our way through China Town ourselves. The tour covered lower East side and the tenements and ended in a food market with free wifi which was handy - had a lovely home made soup to... More

Really enjoyed the tour i did of Brooklyn. Wouldn't have known where to start if i had tried to explore it myself. The guide (Dan) was great and extremely helpful to us tourists who don't know NYC that well. So pleased i did it as i probably wouldn't have gone to DUMBO and Brooklyn heights otherwise. That's the beauty of... More

While getting ready to head to NY for the first time I was hoping to find some local people to show me THEIR city, they way THEY see it, and I found EXACTLY that!!! Cool that the POD hotel offered this free, I would definitely pay the fee as it's WELL worth every penny. Learned a lot about local history,... More

The free walking tours offered courtesy of Pod Hotels is an awesome way to see the sights in New York. My first tour was of the meat packing district. I opted to do a second tour of Chinatown because of the quality. Patrick, our tour guide rocks! I highly recommend.

Our hotel, Pod 39, offered this free tour. We thought it would be ok. Wow! OUr expectations were blown away. Patrick was incredible. Not only is he amazingly knowledgeable, but he is very friendly and open. He made it very easy to ask questions and he always knew the answer. He did a great job of keeping our wandering group... Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
