What a great time!!! I've been to NYC many many times and continued to do the same things when a friend convinced me to do something new. So glad I did! Ian, our guide was awesome. He knew a lot of really great tidbits about the area and the food was terrific. Next time I'm back I'm booking the Lower... More

We toured the Lower East Side of Manhattan with our party of 7 on the first beautiful April spring day of 2015. Everyone in our group had a wonderful time and would do it again. It probably helps if you already know a little about the history of this 10 square block area which at one time was home to... More

I can recommand this tour for everyone! The ones who are for the first time in NYC, but also the ones who had been there before. You can walk around by yourself, but then you get lost and you will never get to know all the details and special stories about the neighbourhood. The food was really great! We were... More

This tour was wonderful. Our interesting and knowledgable guide took us through this charming area and shared so much more than one would discover from a guide book. In addition, we nibbled on delicious treats from unique stores and restaurants. Thank you!

It was a beautiful day in NYC, and I had an excellent tour with Ian through the lower East Side. Ian was full of history and stories that helped make the walking and tasting tour even better. The highlights of the tour were the Chinese dumpling and the pastrami at Katz's deli. I was concerned about half way through the... More

Whether you are a native New Yorker or from out of town, this tour is great! Our guide was Ian who was fun, funny, very knowledgeable and extremely attentive to our group and it's individual needs. Learning about the history of this neighborhood, understanding its origins and having the landmarks and sites explained to us was invaluable. The food tastings... More

We had a great time with Dante. It was my mother's 83rd birthday so my husband and I joined her and 2 other fun couples for a village delight of food history and fun. Dante was knowledgable, fun, polite and respectful to our diverse group, making sure we each were getting whatever we needed along the way. As a native... More

My second food tasting walking tour through Zerve and it was excellent. I love that you can get a history lesson and try out the local eateries all in one tour. It was amazing to see all the little empty side streets in the Village which is not what you expect from New York City. Ian did a great job... More

This being our first trip to NYC we wanted to encounter the Lower East Side but didn't know where to start. I would highly recommend this tour for a nice sampling of this great section of Manhattan. The tastings were all delicious and quite varied. The tidbits of info on history, architecture and culture were a bonus. I do wish... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
