We (one adult, two 16 year olds, one 11 year old) had a great time on this tour with Ian Dunn as our tour guide. The tour conveyed a nice mix of Village history, architecture, real estate prices (!!!) local stories, and of course, six stops for food. The food was delicious and Ian was engaging, personable, and knowledgeable. We... More

This tour was such a great way to explore a part of the city that I was not very familiar with. Our guide was super friendly and informative. I felt like she was just one of us girls exploring the area. We enjoyed beautiful weather, delicious food at 8 different legendary eateries and learned more about the cultural history of... More

Having two kids (11 and 13), who are foodie dudes, we all enjoyed the good eats and good stories that Ian had to share with us. Great way to get to know an area and fill your bellies!

I recently did the Lower East Side walking food tour. Great fun. Very interesting and informative. Awesome iconic foods to try, with a bit of exercise thrown in to burn off the calories. Our guide Ian was fantastic, very knowledgable, friendly and entertaining. If you love walking around New York, exploring and experiencing bits of the city's culture, history and... More

I've just returned home to Edinburgh following a wonderful few days n NYC and one of the main highlights during our short visit had to be West Village Food Tour that we joined on Friday. Our tour guide Ian was brilliant - he's engaging, well-informed and lead the tour with a great hosting style. The route around the West Village... More

Terrific adventure provided to us by our guide Ian Dunn. Spending 3 hours tasting and walking the streets of the lower east side taught and showed from an 'intimate perspective' to those that have only heard of the area before. Make the commitment - book the tour for a guided experience you will enjoy....

The whole experience was an eye opener. Not only was our guide (Melania) very informative, but I learned more about my own city than I knew before, and I live here! The food tour was delicious: authentic falafel from Mamoun's (definitely try the spicy home made sauce), great samples of 'arancino's' and sopressata from Faicco's delicatessen, slices of Artichoke Pizza,... My mother and I did the LES tasting tour. Ian was our guide and he was awesome. Lots of different foods to taste. I would recommend this tour to others. Wear comfortable shoes, as there is a lot of walking and standing. But it is a great way to try foods and see places that you wouldn't typically see on... More

Maybe it just wasn't for me because I am from NYC. Ended up being a private tour because no one else was booked. Which had its pluses and minuses. Was hoping to interact with more people though. The "history" was just rumored stories of famous people who might have stayed or lived in various spots around the West Village. Did... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
