Earlier this year I booked Act I and had so much fun that we naturally wanted to book Act II on our return trip to NYC. Tim Dolan the owner of BUC was our guide this time and his depth of knowledge of all things related to the Theater is mind blowing. Anyone visiting NYC and seeing the shows on... More

Tim was our guide - he is the best. I learned so much about the Theater District giving me a deeper appreciation of theater. When you are on your own sightseeing it is "just old buildings" but knowing the stories/history behind these old buildings they become alive and memorable.

Tim was fantastic. We booked the trip for ourselves and friends that came from Israel. Our friends loved it and said they would tell their friends who will come to the U.S. to do the tour.

I LOVED this tour! Tim is an excellent tour guide! He was so knowledgeable, fun, and entertaining. Not only did he know anything you want about shows and history, but he also had visuals to show what the area looked like in the past. So glad I took his tour and would love to go on Acts II & III.... More

As a lover of Broadway, Architecture and History this tour was right up my alley. I was surprised to learn so much about the history of Broadway and the theaters in the area on such a relatively short tour. Id love to go back for Acts II & III!

Totally impressed with the detailed knowledge that our guide Tim presented with humour and charm. Even as a New York actor myself, I learned so much about the history of the Theatre district, and am convinced that BUC provides insight you cannot find anywhere else. Very engaging for all ages, complete with rare historical photos and video clips that flesh... More

Tim is fantastic! First, his customer service is excellent. Second, his tour covers EVERYTHING, from ghost stories, stage traditions, and architectural and Broadway history, to info about current shows, anecdotes involving stars old and new, personal insider stories, and glimpses into the life of a working actor. Third, he's an animated and engaging storyteller. And, critically important, he knows where... More

I couldn't believe the lengths that Tim went to find rare historic photos and information about New York's theater and architectural history! His personal experiences and good humor made the tour so much fun and insightful. I plan on seeing the other two tours BUC has to offer! Thank you!

This tour is magic for anyone who is a history buff--if you like theatre as well, then you will love your life even more. Such great stories and such a wonderful understanding of the theatre district--what a great day.

I was looking for an historical walking tour and happened upon Broadway Up Close on TripAdvisor. The Act I Tour, led by Tim, was the perfect blend of city and theater history, as well as an introduction to how the whole Broadway theater thing works. I've been to plenty of shows but didn't know much about the technical aspects of... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
