We quite enjoyed our walking tour to the East Side with guide Dante Salerno, this was our second tour with Dante, we also did the East Side Food Tour. Free Tours by Foot have never failed us, always great entertainment and fact filled tours. Dante is very good and I recommend both him and the company.

My boyfriend and I took 3 walking tours during our visit to NYC last week, two being 'food' tours. Absolutely fab, especially the food tours. Just a really enjoyable way to discover a neighbourhood and its history. The tour guides were all great, really knowledgable, enthusiastic, well-organised. **I would highly recommend** and would love to take more of these tours... More

We went to the Grand Central Station tour with John on the weekend and had a great time. John is an excellent tour guide and provides so much history as well as lots of fun facts. The tour was great for a cold and snowy day.

It had just about got up to freezing point by the time our tour came up on a cold week in February. The welcome from our guide, Katharine, was warm, as our group of about 20 set out around a few blocks of the East Village, close to Cooper Union and St Mark's Place. Katharine gave an interesting introduction to... More

I cannot praise this tour enough! The temperature was -17 and we had reservations about a 6 hour tour but our guide, John, was great and kept us warm. We regularly do walking tours in cities in Europe but this has to be my favourite to date. John managed to pack in a phenomenal amount of sites, historical fact, film... More

I am a 43YO woman, my mom 60. I enjoyed the tour very much, my mom didn't. I liked the fact that we were taken to places that I normally would not have gone without a tour guide. I got to try different types of food, you get to choose your own items or you have the option of not... More

Class, loved it, even though the weather was -17 John the tour guide managed to keep up warm with places to visit. Highly recommend this 6hour tour, met some great people, saw some incredible places that we would not have seen or learned about, very informative. Thanks John and FTBF

Better late than never... My husband and I are not usually interested in set tours, however, we really fancied a food tour, and free tours by foot seemed perfect. Our guide (Catherine) was very friendly, and talked about the area and her experiences. We talked about being from Greenwich London, and she mentioned their Greenwich was named after our Greenwich.... More

I did the Grand Central tour with Renee. The tour was nothing I couldn't have just done myself and Grand Central isn't too big to explore yourself. She made me feel very uncomfortable by always bringing me to the front. I might be short but I was perfectly capable of hearing her loud voice. I felt embarrassed to be honest.... More

Hello. I am sorry for your experience. It's standard procedure for a tour guide to position taller people in the back and shorter people in the front. We do not intend, of course, to make someone in the group the focus of a group. We are sorry that something a tour guide said led to an unhappy experience. This set... More

Even on a very cold day in February, walking across the Brooklyn Bridge is a treat! The views of the city and the close-ups of the bridge are gorgeous. The guide was informative and gave us a sense of "belonging" as we walked along. I was traveling solo, and enjoyed meeting others on the tour, including folks from China, Spain,... More

Staying in Little Italy

Neighborhood Profile
Little Italy
While Little Italy is one of the city's smallest neighbourhoods, its streets are packed with visitors from around the globe, especially on summer weekends when the streets are closed to traffic. Stroll up Mulberry Street, the heart of Little Italy, for a dense mix of Italian restaurants with sidewalk tables, cafes, and old-school food shops. Don’t be surprised when the hosts beckon you to pay them a visit. Stop in for a coffee and a cannoli, or grab a streetside table to take in the scenery over a hearty Italian meal.
