I was in NYC for 3 weeks and took many tours sponsored by Free Tours by Foot. All were great, but my favorites were the street art tours led by izzy and Mar ( both passionate artists and supporters of fellow artists), and the Harlem tour led ny Derrick (who knew everyone in the neighborhood including the great street basketball... Learned a lot and saw a lot. Incredible experience even in the rain. Maybe especially in the rain. I can't wait to do some of their other tours! If you like modern art and like to walk and learn about the newest trends in urban art, you'll love this tour. I highly recommend it.

2+ hour walking tour led by guide and artist Mar. Packed with information about the history and culture of the community. Mar is passionate about the works and knows and respects the artists. We learned the difference between street art and graffiti. The large murals are obvious, but it is the small pieces that are the most fascinating. I have... More

Great history detail! Mar was engaging and not boring. He tried to include everyone to get their input on pieces we covered. The walk in the rain added a bonus memory of the walk. His coverage was thorough and knew many artists walking on the street. Once done with the tour, it made you want to throw up a piece... More

Before coming to town we booked the Greenwich Village Food tour, the Lower Manhattan tour, and the Soho/Little Italy/Chinatown tour. All were excellent, probably our favorite guide was Renee, all 3 were super friendly and professional. A definite highlight of our trip.

These free tours by foot are very good. I have experienced one in Harlem. It has been manageable (walking a couple of hours), interesting, exhaustive and cheap. It included, the history, the architecture, the politics, the music, theatres and bars. The guide was kind and knowledgeable.

I would highly recommend a tour with this company. We booked two separate tours which were 'Midtown Manhattan' and 'Soho, Little Italy and Chinatown'. I would equally recommend both tours, which really helped us to get our footing in this amazing city! (Our personal favourite was Little Italy/Chinatown tour). The tour guides are real New Yorkers, who are full of... More

We went on the Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn Heights, and DUMBO tour and it was wonderful! Our tour guide, Onel, was very knowledgeable. Not only that, he made the trip pleasant and fun! Thoroughly enjoyed it!

We very much enjoyed our tour with Josh Kraushar. He was well-informed (although occasionally incorrect), humorous, and well organized. His tour was every bit as good, if not better than walking tours for which we have formally bought tickets. We look forward to taking other Free Tours By Foot and have already recommended this company to friends.

Katherine Weatherford was GREAT! She was charming, funny and very informative. This is my family’s second Food Tour in 2 years. I’ve had such a great experience last year, I’ve decided to do another tour with Free Tours by Foot again. I’m glad I did. Thanks for your service making it affordable, fun and memorable. Keep doing what you do... More

Staying in Little Italy

Neighborhood Profile
Little Italy
While Little Italy is one of the city's smallest neighbourhoods, its streets are packed with visitors from around the globe, especially on summer weekends when the streets are closed to traffic. Stroll up Mulberry Street, the heart of Little Italy, for a dense mix of Italian restaurants with sidewalk tables, cafes, and old-school food shops. Don’t be surprised when the hosts beckon you to pay them a visit. Stop in for a coffee and a cannoli, or grab a streetside table to take in the scenery over a hearty Italian meal.
