The 9/11 Memorial consists of two massive pools set within the original footprints of the Twin Towers with 30-foot waterfalls cascading down their sides. The nearly 3,000 names of the men, women, and children killed in the attacks are inscribed into bronze parapets surrounding the twin Memorial pools. This national tribute, located at the heart of the World Trade Center, also gives visitors the unique opportunity to witness the rebuilding taking place around them—including the construction of 1 World Trade Center, which will be the tallest building in the United States. Although free to visit, advance passes for a specific date and time are required. Visitor passes, including same-day passes, can be reserved on the Memorial website. « less

Visitor passes are required though they're free. Managed to do this and arrived a few minutes before designated time. Lines go through fast through security check and once in the memorial, one senses openness of space. Waters running through both pools- both built on the former foundation of the two buildings within the old World Trade Center- gave one a... More

Maybe when the museum opens and the construction is completed, this monument to those who fell on that day, may have more meaning. Right now, you are herded like sheep into pens and finally into the memorial site. I just found it lacking the solemnity of the moment that one should feel knowing just how incredible that event was for... More

We expected a somber environment here but it was more than we expected. It’s even hard to write this review. For those who don't know, It consists of the two footprints of the original buildings rebuilt as recessed reflecting pools. There is a metal rim surrounding each pool with the names of those who died cut into the metal. We... More

I went to visit this attraction with a large group. It was difficult to stay together as a result of the heightened security required to get in. However, the site was absolutely breathtaking and the gravity of our nations loss on 9/11/2001 really hit us all. The memorial is beautifully done and a tribute to all of those who lost... More

This will be very special when it's finished. The pools where the north and south towers were are beautiful. More

We took the subway to the site, not knowing what to expect. We were totally unprepared. The signs indicated the need for tickets, and a website was provided. We used our iPhones to navigate the site, and secured tickets for an 11AM viewing. It was 10AM. We decided to head for the memorial, and hope for an early entrance. Getting... More

The memorial is beautifully done, despite the crowds and surrounding construction, it still seems very calm and peaceful. The security is strict however. While the tickets are free, they checked the tickets no less than 5 time from the entrance to the memorial itself, so don't put the ticket away until you leave. More

The memorial was very moving once we were able to get in. We had made 330 reservations the day before. The entrance is kind of hidden away down an ally. We had to go through a metal detector and a few different check-points. There was a person who was explaining the significance of some of the design choices which was... More

Had a 1030 reservation with virtually no wait. By the time I left, about 1130, the line to get in was huge. Lovely place to spend time in quiet reflection. More
