My two adult daughters and I purchased tickets for the Ultimate New York Food and Culture tour on January 21st. Despite the fact that the scheduled tour guide was not available, we were met at the arranged time and location by Candy. She provided us a very personalized and unique experience given that we were the only ones on the... More

I've lived/worked in the NYC area for 10 years and I'm always looking for different things to do with out of town visitors...this was a great option! Josh gave us great historical information while keeping our bellies full at all the different stops. Would highly recommend this tour to both locals who want to learn more about china town as... We had such a great time on this tour. New York is huge and we feared missing out on the truly special places that only the locals would know about. We knew NYC would have some of the best donuts, cakes, cupcakes etc but could we ever be sure we found the best? With this tour we did. Candy, our... More

My friend and I did a private pizza tour (East Greenwich Village, NYC) with JOSH ROGOL in October. The tour was AWESOME. We had no idea there was so much to learn about the history of New York Pizza -- different types of ovens, differences in crust, various types of sauces, ability to (or prohibition against) sell pizza by the... We have done 2 other food tours in NYC, and others in this country and other countries. Josh is VERY passionate and knowledgeable about the areas he provides tours and makes everyone unique and personalize. We did the East Village food tour with him and learned so much about the area as well as sampled many different ethnic foods. I... More

My mother and I recently did a tour of restaurants in Greenwich Village with Josh Rogol. The tour was excellent. We ate some fantastic food and tried cuisine that I would not have thought to try on my own so this was a revelation. Josh is extremely knowledgable about all things NYC. This ended up being a great tasting tour... More

Recently toured with guide Josh Rogol and had a magnificent time! Weather was rainy and horrible and he made the tour into a great experience! Josh is fun and knowledgeable and the stops we made had fantastic food! My friends and I are looking forward to trying another tour and our first requirement is that Josh be our guide -... More

My husband and I enjoyed this tour very much. Josh did a good job of guiding us through the Village and giving us a historical overview of the area. The good samples were also delicious. This is the 2nd time I have done this tour and I would highly recommend it.

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
