We visit 2 or 3 live jazz spots each night of the week. All live music and transportation costs are included in the tour price, but food and drinks are extra. Our jazz tours take place in Manhattan for the most part, but private tours to Brooklyn, Queens or the Bronx can be arranged. Our goal is to offer the most intimate, small group tours available to Harlem and Greenwich Village neighborhood nightclubs and juke joints. We also provide insight into the Big Apple jazz scene as it has evolved over the past hundred years. Consider hiring Gordon Polatnick to take you on a private tour throughout the city by luxury limousine - starting late and ending early to catch the scene at it's most exciting, or during the day to experience the city's many intriguing neighborhoods with an insider. Other public tours include sets at New York's most exclusive jazz clubs to hear the living legends of jazz any night of the week. « less

The Village Jazz Tour was the highlight of my New York visit. Gordon is very knowledgeable and very personable. I lived in the area a couple of decades ago and never knew the jazz history of places I passed every day. Gordon really did a great job of making the Village's jazz past come to life for us. It was... More

Thanks Gordon for opening up Harlem to us . My wife and I took the sunday nighter to Harlem and had a great time. If you have any reservations about getting off the beaten path, then a night with as Gordon as your host will change that. He takes to where the music is, to places you may never venture... More

I have been in NY at leat 7 times. I like the city and the theater and music, but in the last times I feel very sufficated by la large multitude everywhere and a downgrading of the quality of tours or things to do, I want something more authentic, more the New york that I knew and love 25 years... A most enjoyable evening in Greenwich Village. Gordon is very personable and knows a great deal about jazz and the area. We went to three very different venues with a variety of ambiences and styles of Jazz. In between, Gordon told us much about the history of music in the area and pointed out places of interest along the way.... More

So many terrific things to do in NY, but don't miss the jazz. The famous clubs like Blue Note can be difficult to get into on short notice, but of course are worth a visit if you can get in. There's so much more out there, but more difficult to connect with. Gordon introduced us to some serious musicians at... More

We met Gordan at 55 Bar. Nice guy and very knowledgeable about jazz. We went to three jazz clubs; I enjoyed the jazz at each place. Definitely underground places nothing fancy, so dress comfortable. Next time I travel to New York and want to hear some jazz, I know where to go and what to expect. The places and the... More

A year ago, Gordon's Harlem Juke Joint tour was the highlight of my month-long stay in New York. This time around, deciding on a jazz tour operator was a no-brainer. Big Apple offers everything I need to explore not just jazz here, but its history as well. Yesterday I took the five-hour Great Day in Harlem tour. At the moment,... More

We took the Juke Joint Tour of Harlem with the owner/guide Gordon. Gordon was a knowlegeable and entertaining host. As we walked through blocks of Harlem he pointed out many locations of historical interest and took us to several venues with good soul food and wonderful music. The people we met were friendly and sometimes colorful. For the money this... More

Thank you, Susan, for such a nice review. You hit the nail on the head regarding our goal to compete with Broadway. New York is arguably the World Capital of Jazz with hundreds of jazz performances by the best in the business every single night of the year. It is our contention that New Yorkers and visitors alike will be... More

The evening started well when we met our very sweet guide, Amanda, with a huge personality. Our first stop had a fine jazz trio playing standards that was a great way to start. Next we went to a club in Little Senegal. We never, ever would of gone to this place on our own. The music was very different and... More

I did want to address this as it might be confusing to folks what we offer typically, and why your tour night was different. When we adjusted the start time at your request to accommodate your schedule, we lost the opportunity to hear a jazz band earlier in the evening, and made up for it by hearing an African pop... More

I spent a week in NYC on my own doing all the usual touristy things. As great as they all were for me this was definitely the highlight of the trip! It was a truly memorable night and you will enjoy unparalleled bragging rights with your friends when you swap 'how great is NYC' anecdotes. Gordon is an excellent host,... More
