We visit 2 or 3 live jazz spots each night of the week. All live music and transportation costs are included in the tour price, but food and drinks are extra. Our jazz tours take place in Manhattan for the most part, but private tours to Brooklyn, Queens or the Bronx can be arranged. Our goal is to offer the most intimate, small group tours available to Harlem and Greenwich Village neighborhood nightclubs and juke joints. We also provide insight into the Big Apple jazz scene as it has evolved over the past hundred years. Consider hiring Gordon Polatnick to take you on a private tour throughout the city by luxury limousine - starting late and ending early to catch the scene at it's most exciting, or during the day to experience the city's many intriguing neighborhoods with an insider. Other public tours include sets at New York's most exclusive jazz clubs to hear the living legends of jazz any night of the week. « less

We took the Juke Joint Tour of Harlem with the owner/guide Gordon. Gordon was a knowlegeable and entertaining host. As we walked through blocks of Harlem he pointed out many locations of historical interest and took us to several venues with good soul food and wonderful music. The people we met were friendly and sometimes colorful. For the money this... More

Thank you, Susan, for such a nice review. You hit the nail on the head regarding our goal to compete with Broadway. New York is arguably the World Capital of Jazz with hundreds of jazz performances by the best in the business every single night of the year. It is our contention that New Yorkers and visitors alike will be... More

The evening started well when we met our very sweet guide, Amanda, with a huge personality. Our first stop had a fine jazz trio playing standards that was a great way to start. Next we went to a club in Little Senegal. We never, ever would of gone to this place on our own. The music was very different and... More

I did want to address this as it might be confusing to folks what we offer typically, and why your tour night was different. When we adjusted the start time at your request to accommodate your schedule, we lost the opportunity to hear a jazz band earlier in the evening, and made up for it by hearing an African pop... More

I spent a week in NYC on my own doing all the usual touristy things. As great as they all were for me this was definitely the highlight of the trip! It was a truly memorable night and you will enjoy unparalleled bragging rights with your friends when you swap 'how great is NYC' anecdotes. Gordon is an excellent host,... More

We had a wonderful evening with Gordon. He was extremely knowledgable and took the group to some local places that we otherwise would never have found. At each of the 3 places, the bands were great, and the food was scrumptious. We highly recommend this tour to anyone with an interest in jazz.

we visited four club's with Gordon, taking on some swing/big band sound, a great start in 55 Bar (see Gordon's photo that was our Monday tour), a short stay for some missippi steamboat style jazz, and ending up underground watching a guy play two fused saxophone simultaneously. we both enjoyed the evening Jill & Keith

Thank you Amanda for a fantastic trip around Greenwich village, some superb venues, great food, and most of all some amazing jazz. We couldn't have asked for a better night out, and it was impossible to leave until 2am because the blues was so damn good. I thoroughly recommend this tour to anyone passing through New York.

My friend and I took the Harlem Juke Joint tour with Gordon and really enjoyed it. We are both musicians and wanted to discover some places in Harlem that we didn't know. Gordon took us to 3 very different clubs that all featured top notch talent and we ate a great meal at the 2nd place. Gordon was extremely knowledgeable... More

Thanks Gordon for a great night out in Harlem. My son and I know very little about jazz but that (and the rain) didn't stop Gordon from showing us a great time in three diverse venues all with a fabulous vibe. Gordon was very friendly and professional and I couldn't recommend him more highly.

Gordon has taken my music students on Harlem jazz tours for the past 5 years now and it is ALWAYS my student's favourite part of the whole trip! Gordon takes care of all the details, and is a fantastic tour guide, so I just sit back, relax and enjoy! Trust me, your students will LOVE IT!
