How is this place permitted to remain part of the Episcopal diocese? Only male clergy, boys choir, antiquated prayer book ...may as well go the street and buy the whole hog at St. Pat's. Sure, the place is impressive looking, and tourists love it, but I wouldn't dram of worshipping here.

John Scott's performance was the higlight of our trip. The church is a beautiful building and the acoustics were ideal for the music. We aren't organ music buffs but we could sense that we were being treated to a performance of Bach's music that ranked amongst the best in the world. Thank you for the memories.

Conveniently located in midtown along 5th Av (corner with 53rd St), this is an attractive old church which is worth a visit. The interior is surprisingly impressive and I would recommend going inside if you get the opportunity.

In addition to its architecture and beautiful stained glass, this high Episcopal church as one of the only resident boys choir's in the world. Every Sunday at 11 o'clock and other times you can simply walk in and listen. This part of Fifth Avenue is loaded with churches, but few choirs merit a detour.

Situated in the heart of Midtown Manhattan on the 5th Avenue. It follows the Anglican tradition. Wonderful place when looking for peace in crazy Manhattan. The stained glass Windows are awesome! Totally worth!

St. Thomas offers visitors a sanctuary of peace, serenity and beauty away from the noise, congestion, and pollution in downtown Manhattan. As I entered this majestic church, I was impressed both by its magnificence as well as its tranquility. Although one of the most beautiful churches that I have visited in Europe or North America, St. Thomas is not a... More

I attended Choral Eucharist with friends and the whole experience was breath taking. The building itself is magnificent - cathedral like almost! The music was heavenly! The rector spoke with clarity and from the heart. We were invited to the Church House for coffee after the service and were VERY warmly welcomed. So glad we went.

This is my favorite NYC church. In all my visits to NYC, this is a place I never miss. It envolves you with peace and meditation. This last time, the organ was playing Bach so that I did not want to leave this sacred place and re-enter reality.

I've been visiting St. Thomas off and on for some 50 years, and I've never been disappointed. The worship, the choir, and the friendly staff make for a spiritual and aesthetic escape from the bustling noise and crowds on Fifth Avenue.

Have never been inside but regularly walk past it and am always inspired by its grandeur and beauty. Quite a landmark in amongst the high rise businesses and expensive shopping.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
