We spent Christmas morning strolling through the neighborhood looking into the shop and restaurant windows, surprisingly of which some were open. There area is rich with quant streets, lovely buildings and of course interesting people.

It's a very laid back place to be. Travel back to the 60's and walk Washington Square Park, where Bob Dylan and others protested the "no singing rule" for the park. Dive into a chess game Walk to the West Village where the "Friends" crew supposedly lived, visit NYU and decide whether they should expand or not, see the site... More

Music, costumes, parade cars... and loads of people! The streets were crowded and you should arrive really early to get a good spot near the parade. We were there about half an hour before the parade started, and it was too late to get a good spot.

We did a tour with Ian of Sidewalk Tours in Greenwich Village New York. He was a wealth of information and showed us some great locations and you really got a feel for what it used to be like in the Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Jimi Hendrix days. There are so many quaint pubs that are hidden from the street... More

we walked over from Little Italy and realized that we had arrived in Greenich Village. So adorable the brownstones and tree lined streets. Plenty of shopping and eateries for any taste. A real neighborhood lots of famous scenes. We recommend visiting this iconic area.

Less busy and scenic area of the city. Interesting buildings and trees make for nice contrast to the high rise buildings in other areas. Loads of boutique shops as well if shopping is your thing. I enjoyed it for the scenery and photo opportunities.

For any Australian fascinated and passionate about the story of Peter Allen -- this is a MUST. I was on a sightseeing bus and the moment we turned the corner, OK, I admit, the tunes started in my head. What a terrific piece of Australian History on the Other side of The World.
