Greenwich Village has charming shops and restaurant. It is much more casual than the uptown neighborhoods, but it can get just as crowded. We love strolling and poking into the shops. it is a great neighborhood in which to lose yourself - and then settle into a nice cafe to find your way again.

I have been going to the West Village for many years, actually, decades and it is still an exciting and changing community.

If you want to experience something different than the midtown madness and the most obvious attractions in NYC the Village is a place for relaxing and enjoying a community feeling even if you're a stranger in town. On numerous occasions I have been enjoying a morning newspaper and a coffee that have ended in a discussion with a local.

This is now part of the New York University in a sense because its location and the campus around. I may say half f the visitors here are students of NYU or related. The historical arch is the landmark and great for picture taking. The fountain is all a great place for seating by and around. You will musicians playing... More

Lots of funky stores and restaurants to choose from. On Memorial Day and Labor Day there is a great art show around Washington Square Park

Pleasant to stroll through and check out the stalls. Found an interesting one that sold all sorts of shaving stuff and some cool hip flasks, of which I bought one. Plenty of restaurants to choose from, as well

Such an eclectic area and there is always something to do or eat or see here. There are a few good coffee shops and you can't go wrong with loads of vintage and quirky shops

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
