I stayed just at the border of Greenwich Village & Soho on my visit and it was great being near the awesome energy of the Village, especially on the weekend. I'm not usually a fan of crowds, but I did enjoy watching the kaleidoscope of people there on a Saturday. Lots of options for food. LOTS. You'll be spoilt for... More

Took a stroll around the area on a Sunday afternoon. They close the street and have a market with all sorts of food and wares. Many unique pubs, restaurants and shops. A relaxed pace and nice. Break from the tourist goings on in the Times Square area. Is worthwhile spending a few hours.

Finally had a chance to visit the famous Greenwich Village in NYC. Just have a stroll around the area and soaked in the vibe of this neighborhood with many interesting shops and restaurants. Two thumbs up.

Not a whole lot to do as far as attractions. Greenwich Village is more known for its restaurants and architecture. We did swing by to see the house from The Cosby Show though!

Probably one of The BEST activities we participated in during our stay in New York. Our tour guide, Raheem, was incredible. We went to eat at places that were so unique and wonderful that we probably would never have found on our own. We ate at one of our tour restaurants almost every day for the remainder of our trip.... To experience real New York and real people. I would return tomorrow! Its very pleasant and easy to get to. Just take the subway. Once you've finished its easy to make your way to the next place. It's full of cafe's, shops and bars.

This was by far the best area we found in New York. It had such a relaxed atmosphere with lovely cafes and bars. Although still close to the hustle and bustle it felt much more chilled. I would recommend this as a must visit area.

This place had a hipster, arty vibe to it, very different to central New York, I couldn't find a Starbucks and there were no skyscrapers. We did find 'apparently' the first cafe to make cappuccino in New York! Which was really old and pretty cool.

Walking through the different villages was quite an experience, but if I had to pick one that I would go back to, it would definitely be Greenwich Village. Our favorite restaurant was on our last night in NY and it was everyone's overall favorite. There were a few other restaurants we passed by that looked interesting. We saw quite a... More

The Area around Washington Square is filled with early brick Federal Buildings. The Park has still kept most of its old feeling and there are usually musicians playing their guitars. Towards the west you can walk some of the interesting small streets filled with brownstones and perhaps catch a bite to eat at one of the many outdoor cafes.

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
