This is an unusually built tour. The goal is to learn about the cultures of Brooklyn. Of course given that Brooklyn itself has 2.6 million people, they couldn't possibly cover all the cultures. But it was a great sampling. The food then is a means to the goal of cultural experience. It also was a good sampling in its own... More

Rick was our guide and was a interesting and made the day fun. The tour has 5 stops and the helpings are plentiful with more than one item at some of the stops. The food was delish and I learned a lot about Brooklyn. We drove mostly in a small mini bus, and I did not feel the least Bit... More

We took the Brooklyn Food Tour with Rick (Richard) as our guide, and it was outstanding! In terms of the food, we tried everything from rugelach to Polish sausages to gourmet chocolate and a few more items in between. Rick was extremely knowledgable about the food, the cultures and the city (both Manhattan and Brooklyn), and we were able to... More

I am a frequent visitor to NYC but have not spent much time in Brooklyn. So I took this tour mainly to learn more about this borough. The tour did not disappoint. We visited several ethnic neighborhoods including Jewish, Polish, Caribbean, Italian, etc. We tasted great food at each stop and the portions were large. One definitely does not come... More

We've been to New York before yet can only feel comfortable in Manhattan because that is all we knew. We took the Brooklyn Culture and Food Tour and was absolutely delighted. We know so much more about New York now. Our guide, Rick, was totally prepared and shared so much information about the areas we were visiting. Our driver was... More

The tour was excellent!! The food was delicious!! Our guide was extremely knowledgable, not just about the restaurants and food, but about the history of Brooklyn and its varied cultures. Rick had many "fast-facts" that I immediately shared with my social media family and friends. I highly recommend this tour. I want to move to Brooklyn, NY!!

After a year of living in Manhattan I thought it was time to see what Brooklyn has to offer. Since it was raining my friends and I were pleasantly surprised that we didn't have to walk a lot and got to ride in our own van through the different neighborhoods. We stopped at several interesting restaurants (which are mentioned in... More

After years of Manhattan trips, I decided it was time to explore Brooklyn -- especially after just re-reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. This outing was a perfect fit for my needs with not only Brooklyn but also the lower East Side of Manhattan featured and well explained by guide Rick. All the ethnic foods were tasty and the van... We started off in the lower east side of Manhattan with a Jewish the pastry rugelach. We were given some information about the ethnic nature of the area and some insights to the way building were changed to make them so different. We crossed the Manhattan Bridge into Brooklyn and drove through the Hasidic neighborhood just across the East River.... More

Few tourists ever venture outside of Manhattan. If you've "been there-done that" with Times Square and the usual Manhattan experience -- or to experience NYC more like the locals experience it, you've got to get to Brooklyn and this tour is a great way to do that. Equal parts culture & food (show up hungry!), the tour is very informative... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
