My favorite off bradway musical this year. The production is exceptional This is a musical and a live audience participation The music and lyrics are memorable. Wear comfortable shoes... You will be dancing and you will be part of the perfromance. They also use some live videotaping and screen projections that help tell a story of an Asian Evita.

The musical was top notch and the food and drinks at The Library (on-site at the Public) were superb.

We went to see Fortress of Solitude in it's preview stage. A fantastic musical. But there are all sorts of performance options here and the space is worth dropping in to see if you are near the East Village.

My wife and I saw three plays during their annual "Under the Radar" Festival. Each play was a gem! The tickets are very moderately priced ($ 20 for each play), the staff is very friendly and helpfull and the location is very convenient. When we visit New York we always book some plays there in advance. So far we never... More

I recently saw 3 plays that were part of the ' Under the Radar " series. Interesting plays, good venue, extremely reasonable price, near the subway, in the Village so good vibe and many restaurants........I have nothing against a big Broadway production but this kind of live theater is so very wonderful too. The building is interesting too.......the old Astor... More

I started my membership of the institution with the musical production of Alison Bechdel's "Fun Home". I was a great fan of the graphic novel but was not prepared for the magical experience of the musical. Incredible production and performances. Have not seen anything so funny yet poignant for a long time. It motivated me to buy memberships as wedding... More

The Public is a wonderful place that offers of like Friday of performing arts – from the avant-garde to the commercial. I saw Sandra Bernhard last night at Joe's Pub and while her act was pathetic, I appreciated being in the space. The lobby has been renovated in the last year and there's a big circular bar in the middle.... More
