Description: The unique concept behind City Food Tours was developed in New York City...
The unique concept behind City Food Tours was developed in New York City when Joyce Weinberg, a seasoned food industry professional with more than 20 years of experience, wanted to share her passion for fine foods. From managing Fortune 500 confectionery businesses, to buying gourmet chocolates for Bloomingdales, she's done it all. Compared to other existing New York food tours that focus on more common foods, CFT introduces tour guests to a vast offering of high-quality, artisanal foods and encourage them to support local specialty stores, farmers, and sustainable agriculture. We help people realize that there's a lot more out there than the processed foods they encounter in mega-marts.

On Sunday, Oct. 24, my friends and I took the Lower East Side tour with Jonathan. It was really great. It was just the right length and a huge variety of foods -- from wonderful donuts to delicious pickles to outstanding pizza. A very fun tour with a thoughtful and knowledgeable guide. Book this tour--you won't be disappointed!

The Lower East Side Artisan Food Tour was terrific. Jonathan, our guide, was knowledgeable and fun. He went out of his way to make our tour flow smoothly and be interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed the walk, the talk, and the taste treats.

I took the Lower East Side Artisan Food Artisan Food tour on August 6. If you are a strict vegetarian as I am, you know that food tours can be tricky -- but this one was perfect. The only thing I couldn't taste was the bacon chocolate truffle (yes, they exist...). I really liked the personal attention afforded by the... More

I took the Lower East Side food tour with Nicole and couldn't have been happier. I've lived in the city for seven years now and pretty much thought I had the food thing down. But Nicole brought us to some real gems that even I didn't know existed. The best part about the tour was learning the history of not... More

As a born and bred New Yorker I was hoping I would discover new great food spots and learn a little more about NYC in the process and that is exactly what happened on the LES tour with Susan. We visited some locations I had only read about previously and learned some history about the LES that created a total... More

Even a group of jaded New Yorkers were really impressed with the hidden gems Joyce found for us. The food was delicious, but the narration was eye opening and filled with bits of history we hadn't expected. City Food Tours is top notch and has something for everyone. They did a great job catering to the vegetarian's amongst us and... More

Last week I had some free time and decided to go on City Food Tours "LES Artisan Highlights". I live in Brooklyn and had fallen into a rut of going to all the same spots in my neighborhood and decided to take some time to explore. I could not be happier that I did. The LES Artisan tour was great!... More

Today I was lucky enough to experience City Food Tours excellent, fun, informative tour of delectable eateries throughout the East Village. Our tour was led by the very knowledgeable (French-trained Chef!!) Susan who was enthusiastic and excited to share her wealth of knowledge with our group. We made 6 stops along the way and tasted everything from real NYC pizza,... More

We were so excited to do the Nolita food tour but very disappointed with our experience. Not good value at all! You start off the tour with some decent bread then as you progress to the different restaurants, the portions get smaller and smaller. They feed you cheap semi-filling carbs such as breads and the skimp on the good stuff... More

Went on a tasting around Williamsburg in Brooklyn. Ate some of the best bbq this side of the mason-dixon line and indulged in some delectable cupcakes. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. She answered all of our questions with ease and made us really appreciate the food. In my opinion its the best way to spend a Friday... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
