I went on two tours on my recent visit to New York (Greenwich Village and Chinatown). These are walking tours through the neighbourhood and getting to know the area and its culture specifically through its food! But more than just walking, it also involves tasting the food, specialties of the various restaurants or shops recommended. The tours were fun and... More

We took the Chelsea Market tour with Curt and it was a blast. Not only did we sample foods that were apart of the tour - many vendors had samples sitting out to try as well. Some of our favorites were Sarabeth's Bakery and Lucy's Whey!! Curt was knowledgeable of both foods as well as how to prepare. He gave... More

Second time we have done a food tour. First time- Greenwich Village and this time China Town. Great host, interesting facts and history and good food. Family really enjoyed it. Will be doing another one on our next trip.

A lot of great food, and even better non-touristy discoveries! We don't eat red meat, and we appreciated that most of the tastings had none. We only wish there was more food to taste, though! Will certainly come back to the places we found during the tour. This tour made me want to live in Greenwich Village even more!

The tour started with an introduction from our lovely guide Mason. He explained how the tour would work, gave us a bottle of water and made us feel at ease with each other. He was so knowledgeable about the Greenwich Village area, the history, the architecture and of course the food. It was 3 hours of pure enjoyment we can... More

Awesome! That's the best way to describe this taste-tacular walking tour through the mysterious and mystical Chinatown. This is a must-see for any foodie interested in tasting the Orient without taking a plane ride. We had a fantastic time.

We had a wonderfully witty and informative guide who absolutely made the tour. Great variety of tasty treats to sample and we went back and shopped at the end. Super way to experience a neighborhood that you might not otherwise visit as a tourist. We have done several food tours in different cities and this was up at the top!

Our tour guide, Curt, was very entertaining and informative. The food you get on this tour is worth much more than the price of the tour. It is definitely a tour I would recommend for any age and one that I would take again.

Darrel Blackburn was a fabulous guide. He quickly learned our names and made us feel like old friends visiting him from out of town. He was entertaining and enthusiastic about the history of the Meatpacking District as well as the individual places we visited for our tastings. Even the rain didn't dampen our spirits. I was on the Saturday afternoon... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
