To have the feeling of almost all of NYC start at 125th street by bus. Check the numbers as one turns off at 34th street. If you start at 125th you can see the signs of gentrification and to your right, Central Park begins. The sections include wonderful historic building some now apartments, the Metroplitan Museum down to 59th street... More

Besides attending a parade (Columbus Day), I walked the sidelines and even went shopping. Ok, it was an H&M but nonetheless I went shopping on 5th Avenue. The moment I entered Tiffany's I didn't even dare to talk too loud. Though I don't know if I'd like to be an employee working the elevator going up and down the whole... More

Lots of restaurants on the street and shops to. Plenty of tourists attractions nearby like the Empire State Building and Times Square.

There is not much to see on Fifth Avenue besides a bunch of expensive stores, but it is a one-of-a-kind place. I enjoy starting at Rockefeller Plaza, swooping past Radio City Music Hall, cutting past the ice rink to fifth Avenue where you can see St. Patrick's Cathedral and head up 5th. If you have little kids, beware that you... More

It is true that it's a lot of fun to window shop on this iconic shopping street, but to avoid the sometimes terminal shock which can occur when your credit card bills arrive, don't take out those cards. I have found out the hard way, after much disappointment from buyers' regret, that window shopping can be nearly as much fun... More

Within walking distance of my hotel. Lots of opportunities and surprises along this walk. Cafes, shopping I and if I am not mistaken a mini supermarket. I didn't hesitate to walk to Times Square from here.

Classic shopping and a lot of stores you have seen in movies and tv shows. Not cheap though:-) but some purchase was necessary anyhow.

5th Avenue NYC is bursting with energy and people looking to exercise retail therapy. Go for Xmas to experience the magic which accompanies the beautiful decorations which adorn such retail luminaries as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany and many many more. You will never forget it especially if it snows.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
