My favorite part was the amazing window displays. I took pictures of quite a few of them but didn't really bother to go into very many stores. It was mostly boring clothing stores that you can find in the upscale section of any major city. There were a lot of stores to check out.

You can shop until you drop here and spend as much as you like, go into some of the department stores and see how the other half live! We went into Sachs and because the weather was so snowy, there was hardly any one shopping, so we chatted to one of the jewellery places and he was showing us all... More

Iconic Fifth Avenue at christmas time was fantastic. However make sure you eat before traipsing through the shops as the only eating places available were street vendors, which isn't to everyones taste.

Look, you have to take a stroll at least a few blocks down (or up) Fifth Avenue when you visit NYC. We usually start around Saks Fifth Avenue and head up, peeking in windows and looking at the newest fashions and sparkling jewels. No need to spend....although there are a few places with some deals. The Japanese store not he... More

Been at Manhattan and nos visiting this avenue is like your never went. You will find the most amazing stores and not forget to visit Abercrombie and Fitch Girls if your lucky you will see a hot guy at the entrance of the store and take a picture.

Yes, there's Times Square with its neon, but this time of year, a stroll on Fifth Avenue will delight you with holiday lights and creative decorations...check out the clever windows and street lights by Lord & Taylor or the windows and lights of the many establishments here...a spectacle in a magical way. Yes, crowded, yes, crazy, but that's NYC.

We walked 5th Avenue up and down several times. It connects to so many attractions: Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Central Park. It is full of shops, boutiques and restaurants.

This street goes on forever and if you can't find the shop to suit you there must be something wrong! I'm personally not a massive shopper but it is great to just take it all in and people watch if nothing else, good choice of eateries and drinking establishments too.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
