Went to see "Punk: from Chaos to Couture" and it was excellent! The Costume institute is just one part of a world class museum that warrants an entire day if you are from out of town. Their European galleries have been updated recently. The American Wing features a glass enclosed sculpture garden and has a beautiful collection of Tiffany works... More

Great exhibits, food and fun! Must check backpacks and large bags so bring the minimum and save time. Food is pricey but well worth it.

The first time my breath was taken away by the marvels of the Met was in 1963, when our art teacher from Seaford, L.I. took us into the city for the day to go to the Central Park Museums. Fifty years later it still takes my breath away! First of all, the building itself is stunningly beautiful. This gem is... More

We enjoyed our visit and especially the exhibition currently on fashion and art. It is much more interesting than it sounds and no need to be keen on fashion to appreciate the art works which were an impressive group. We spent most time in the American wing as we thought we'd see something we were less familiar with. I think... More

The Met has it all, and you need to come back several times to take it all in. The Egyptian wing, complete with a temple rescued when the Aswan Dam was built, is amazing. The artwork is extraordinary and covers many genres. This is a must-see (but more than once!).

This was not our first trip, so we focused on the two new exhibits. Both the Punk & Impressionist Art and their inluence on the fashion of the day were quite interesting. If this IS your first trip, pick an area of interest and see that first, then go on, and on and on as your energy allows.

We are always astounded by the art collections at the Met. We were happy to be in town for the Impressionism, Fashion and Modernity exhibit, which we had read about. We are art lovers and were happy to view paintings we had not seen before, though we are familiar with many of the world's great museums. Having the dresses similar... More

I usually visit museums (art galleries) to learn something and I never rush through. This museum is a gem - I come there second time (first time I was there 3 years ago) and feel like the first time again. There is so much to see, to learn! This time I spent over 4 hours and covered only half of... More

I recommend leaving yourself a good amount of time the exhibits are many and very interesting. We especially enjoyed the Egyptian exhibit. We used the audio guide, which was informative but not everything is explained. All in all it is worth the visit, but again leave yourself a lot of time to see all the great works of art and... More
