This was our first visit to the Metropolitan museum of Art and we were decidedly overwhelmed in a positive way. There are riches and treasures everywhere you look ; you could easily spend a week in one room ! We went on the hour tour which gave a cursory explanation of many areas of the museum. The guide was well-informed... more

We saw model as muse here which was a great exhibit. we all enjoyed it! They did a great designing the exhibit by putting the clothes, ambiance, and back ground all together. Dont just get a ticket to see one exhibit. There is so so so much here. Everything we saw was just fantastic. more

Get the audio tour or take a guided tour. Spend as much time here as you can. This is one of the world's great museums. My three teenagers loved it. more

Wow. What a museum. You w=could spend a week here and not see everything. Must see. Of note, a snobby guide insisted they don't have a Michelangelo work when asked where it was, despite the banner outside the museum stating: "Michelangelo's first painting". Aside from that attitude everything was great! more

As a native NY'er, I've been to the "Met" nearly 40 times in my life. The Music on the Roof for members is a great place to hang out and meet others. (Check when, as it seems to change from season to season.) But the "Met" inspired me to remain curious about art and architecture and ancient history. I've been... more

I've been to this museum numerous times. It cannot all be seen in one day, and I don't think it's possible to tire of it. It is a beautiful building in a wonderful location on the edge of Central Park along Museum Mile. The collections are fun, informative, and significant. I think it is truly one of the great museums... more

Yes it does compare to all 3 of those great museums. In fact it is one of the best museums in the world. Am I prejudiced being a 5th generation native New Yorker? Probably- but having been to the Prado, Smithsonian & some other great museums in the world it really does deserve its reputation as being one of the... more

This place is huge! If you're an artisy fartsy person, you can spend a whole day here. It's 2 storied. "Suggested" price is $20/person, but we paid $20 for 2. So make your own price. Beautiful place! You have to see it before leaving New York. more

Went to the museum on a Friday night. As I had read on TripAdvisor, I was offered the option to pay whatever price I chose. We arrived shortly after 6pm to catch the 6:30 highlights tour. Great tour. Enjoyed having someone else walk us through some interesting museum highlights. Need to admit that unless you are going to spend a... more
