This museum is in a class by itself. OK, maybe the Louvre is in the same class. You can forget about seeing all of this in one day, it would take at least a week. The key is to pick one particular section, say European painting, and focus in on that area. You can probably do that section justice if... more

I've been there twice in the past 15 years and each time have come out wishing I had more time to explore it. It is one of the few places in the world where you can see art from all over the world, of top quality, under one roof. The "open spaces" with natural light are beautiful. My top tip... more

Unfortunately, we visited on a cold, rainy day in October and so did everyone else in town, to get indoors. It was very crowded in the main lobby and gift shop and many of the exhibit rooms. But our main problem was that the extensive collections would take days to see in detail. The Met houses amazing exhibits of all... more

This museum has everything, from Egyptian Temples to knights in shining armor. It may say it is an art museum, but the roman sculptures and Egyptian sarcopheguses make it a history museum too. This is a must see for everyone! more

This is by donation although they will suggest you pay $20. There is a lot of variety from Egyptian mummies, Greek and Roman sculpture to a Dyson vacuum in the modern art section. Plan on tired feet and 3 hours. more

the Metropolitan Museum of Art would be my choice - allow at least one day due to the vastness of the collections - read up on it (on the net) before going so as to be more focused on what you wish to see - it's astonishing. more

There is no way to adequately express the wonder found in the Met. Whatever your mood, there's a gallery or exhibit to fit your taste. Some of the greatest art ever created is housed here. You can blissfully spend hours and hours wandering or quickly run by to see the newest exhibit on display. more

If you love art, any kind of art- ancient greek, asian, european, modern, medieval, musical instruments, tapestries, american classics, it is all here! This museum can be grueling and overwhelming so utilize the Met's website before you go. Have a plan and pick the highlights because you will not be able to see it all in one day! Be aware... more

We went to the Met Museum mostly just to take in the recommended city views from the roof garden, but we also hoped to be able to enjoy some lunch after a longish walk up 5th Ave to get there. We were disappointed to find that the rather imposing 'Maelstrom' sculpture installed there competely took over the whole of the... more

I thougth this museum was absolutely first rate. It had a wide selection of art and some very impressive pieces - I particularly liked the Egyptian and Oceanic art. It also has a selection of modern art. It is a well laid out, spacious museum and looks very impressive from the outside. The $20 entrance fee is a recommended amount... more
