The store is closed since last week. Hopefully will re-open soon in another location... Your best other option is now going to Tots'r Us on Time Squares.

Bye, bye FAO. We visited on the day before closing, the store was obviously being run down, but the staff were still excellent and the soldier posed for us and our boys enjoyed the big piano one last time. I dearly hope FAO makes a return.

I remember coming to this store as a child and thinking how amazing it was! But coming back as a 20 year old it seemed fairly lame. I am still very much a child at heart, but I was disappointed by how little was in the store. I did buy a stuffed bear, but the game selection seemed to be... More

I know what you are thinking... Every kid's dream! A humongous toy factory that could pass off as a toy mansion!! All I can say is wow! Not much off a toy fan now but this was awesome!! Like Dylan's Candy Bar it had a huge selection of candy as well as every selection of toy you could imagine! Very... More

This toy store was big but I like the Toys R Us in Times Square better. I was disappointed with the floor piano from the movie "BIG" it was roped off where a line was to be formed so people took turns on it for walking on or pictures. My turn was next and it was impossible to take a... More

It was the best toy store I have ever been to, not even Hemleys or Harrods could compete, although you now had to wait in line for the piano and it became a tourist attraction it was unique. And it closed on July 15th for real. They say they are opening somewhere else but didin't say where, It won't be the... More

Visitors should note that Toys R' Us who owns FAO Schwarz CLOSED the store on July permanently. We visited FAO Schwarz on the last week of it's operation, and immediately fell in love with the store, the plush animals of all sizes, the big piano and other quality toys sold there. This was a great place to shop and visit... More

The BIG piano was very disappointing, half the keys didn't play and we had to line up and was forced to take a picture in front of a green screen in order to line up. Nothing interesting to buy either.

Sad that it is closed now. I was lucky to have the chance to visit the store and have fun in the Big Piano. Beyond that, the store offered a great variety of toys and sweets. It was great both for children and adults.

Huge store with tons of fun and incredible toys. Every day at the openning of the store, the staff used to welcome the visitors with a warm round of applause. So sad it closed the doors this year.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
