Dropped in to play the 'Big' Piano and get a horoscope from Zoltar but we wondered around and were amazed at the variety and passion of the employees. They take their jobs seriously and credit to them in bringing the toys and experience to life. Great range - I'd be worried bringing kids - you could be there awhile!!

Yes its cheesy and yes all the tourists probably want to do it, but I wanted to tick off "Playing the BIG Piano at FAO" off my bucket list, so I dragged hubby here on our last day in NYC. There is an enormous amount here for the kids to be amazed at, and there is also enough for the... More

I went with my seven year old daughter and she loved it. She got to take a picture with the guard, got to go on the big piano, saw the face clock. All in all she loved it. My only regret is that I heard that it's shutting down.

My sister was whining about why we were going here but it was recommended by another friend and was got her to go. Boy was she excited! The large plush animals, the candy bar, and vast variety of toys and games was amazing. We spent an hour walking around and ended up buying a few animal plush and candy. Alot... More

Walked through FAO Schwartz on our trip to NY for my daughter's birthday. We weren't planning to go to the toy store, but it was windy and we just wandered in to get out of the cold, windy weather. I'm so glad we did. The people who work there are super friendly and welcoming. We rode up the escalator along... More

The selection is huge. The customer service is terrific. Toy shopping here is a hands-on experience. With few exceptions, all the toys are out for the kids to play and experiment with. There is always staff handy to snap a picture or teach you how to use a certain toy. There are also plenty of registers around the store so... More

I bought my 8 year old daughter some clip on earring from FAO Schwarz. As I had no intention of returning them, I discarded the receipt in the garbage shute of my hotel that night. The very next morning my daughter wanted to wear them and as soon as she went to put them on, half of the earrings fell... More

Just as fun for the grown ups as it is for the kids. There are many unique toys you might not find elsewhere.

I think the looks on my kid's faces were second only to walking through the gates at Disney. This store has everything from life sized stuffed animals to Muppets to trains.

I took grandbaby here so that she could play on the piano. Which she really enjoy. Lots of hands on demonstration and interact with the employees. The ones I encounter where very sweet. No attitude or rudeness. Now the store is expensive for my budget but as long as the grandbaby had fun nothing else matters.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
