Heard it on the news this morning, FAO Schwarz is closing it's doors. Perhaps just moving to a new location? But it was exactly the location on 5th Ave, that made this store so special, especially around Christmas. Over the years we visited several times and made "important" purchases. It was the special displays, the huge stuffed animals and the... More

Amazing toy store with a variety of toys. Personnel could be a little bit friendlier. Two floors of amazing gagets and even a candy shop. Too bad there are rumors it's closing it's doors and don't as of yet have a reallocation address.

We had a great wander through this iconic toy store. It was like every store a kid would want to go to at the mall all included in one location: Ravensburger Puzzles, stuffed toys, Corolle and Madame Alexander dolls, Claires, crafts, radio controlled toys, books, Build A Bear, Legos, Brain building games, and so much more. They had the piano... More

There's so much in this toy store. I heard the NYC store was closing so my friend and I made it a point to stop by there. The games were various and for all ages. I really wanted to see the big piano, and when I did, I have to say I was disappointed. It seemed so much bigger on... More

Passing along 5th Avenue, our kids saw the big toy soldier outside of FAO Schwarz and convinced us to go inside. There is an endless assortment of toys in all directions and all price ranges. No trip to FAO Schwarz would be complete without a visit to the Big Piano upstairs. Made famous by the movie “Big,” there is now... More

I go here every time I'm in NYC just because it is so cool. From classic stuffed bears to the Lego room to the candy extravaganza to the new brain toys room, it is just amazing. Whether you have a kid or not, stop by here and enjoy. Also, my wife and I just went to the new infant area... More

FAO Schwarz is like something out of a child's dream, it really is that awesome. Whether you are going there to purchase something or simply to have a look around, it is hard not to feel drawn in to the atmosphere and excitement. There are plenty of huge stuffed animals to check out and members of staff demonstrating toys to... More

My 13-year-old daughter and I did the Toy Soldier Tour, which is conducted before the store opens and ends with a continental breakfast. We really lucked out as there were only three other guests on the tour with us. Our toy soldier was Rich and he was fantastic! He was engaging, funny, enthusiastic and really made the tour special. Everyone... More

Birthday out in the city for the kids...took a walk through for the experience. Expensive, as advertised. No different than any other large toy store, really. Just a fancy name on some things and the opportunity to say you got it here.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
