I did two tours, The Moores and Getting By. WOW, these tours show all of the struggles the immigrants suffered while living in the tenements. Both tours were so great! My favorite was Getting By. If you get their early, do the self tour. You get to see so many historic sites that aren't open to the public. There is also... more

WOW...just back from New York and this is one of the standout museums we went to! Being from Ireland we decided to go on the Moores tour! Our guide was fantastic and well able to answer any questions. We first went into the Tenement, up a few flights of stairs to where the Moores once lived. Two of the appartments... more

Wow, what an interesting tour this was! It was a big help to have gone online a couple of weeks before arriving to choose the tour I wanted and buy the tickets ahead of time as to not take the chance of it being sold out when I arrived. Our guide made the story very real and interesting and to... more

We visited the Tenement Museum during a recent trip to New York, and if you are looking for a unique experience in NYC, this is it. The museum is in an actual tenement house built in the late 19th century, and various apartments in the six storey building are set up like they would have been when the building was... more

The Tenement Museum gave us a glimpse into the experiences of immigrants in New York City at the turn of the century. Tour guides dressed in period clothes recreated the experiences of the immigrant family residing at 97 Orchard Street by acting their roles and involving the audience in role playing. The presentation and the setting were very authentic. It... more

We are in NYC often and my kids (13 and 15) know most of the museums and neighborhoods. We did the tenement museum on a whim and loved it. We also did the Moore tour (you see the museum through tours with a docent) and upon leaving, my 13 year old son turned to me and said "that was the... more

Our group (4 adults & 2 kids - 10 & 8 yrs) enjoyed the museum. Booked our tickets in advance - paid $2 and something for convenience fees. Did the Confino tour with Victoria who answered questions about life in 1916. This is a great way to think about other times & put our struggles in perspective. We recommend this... more

Did a tour following our visit to Ellis Island, and I think it was a great add-on. Got to see how immigrants lived following their arrival in America. Great tour guide who was very knowlegable and had his own personal experience growing up in the neighborhood. Excellent, quality gift shop with a little bit of everything. more
