Art deco at it's best. this is the coolest building in Manhattan. The design and accents were ahead of it's time. everything about the Chrysler building shouts classy. Completed in 1930 Walter P. Chrysler decided to pay for it himself, so that his children could inherit it. This was an era of invention and when there were only 513 millionaires... More

We saw this iconic building whilst on our NYC trip - it is a pity it cannot be entered - well the reception only. It is a beautiful building and it is being swamped by the many taller skyscrapers of NYC but it is still a famous and loved landmark. It looks lovely at night - all lit up.

Love this building. Amazing to look at from the outside and the lobby is full of beautiful painted ceilings and art-deco doorways and lifts.

Awesome building inside and out. It's design definitely stands the test of time. Totally worth a visit for historical art and architectural fans. Take your time to admire the beauty and engineering.

A must see building amidst all the skyscrapers in Manhattan (having once been the tallest building in the world). The structure still looks amazing and the top of the building makes it look unique.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
