While yes this is the typical tourist location it has an abundance of history and honestly something majestic about it. The quintessential American experience that every one sees in opening credits. A quick ferry ride and quite the view. Do you know how many New Yorkers have never been? take the opportunity if you have it

As this was my 3rd visit to NY I decided I wanted to go onto liberty island to get a little closer. Previously I have been on the free Staten Island ferry (dock is very close to where you leave for liberty) we walked to the dock, just head in direction of statue and there's a building with sales booths.... I had booked to go on the crown tour of statue of liberty before well in advance for our trip to New York. When we got to battery park the queues were huge, waiting time was 2 1/2 hour for tickets and ferry across was 1 1/2 hour wait, luckily with pre booking it took us 1/2 hour to get... More

Everyone has to see this statue at least once. The park is okay and the audio guides are fine. But really, the ferry ride and the statue speak for themselves. There is nothing on earth quite like seeing the Statue of Liberty with Manhattan in the back ground. We had a beautiful day on our visit and found it very... More

This was the third time I visited this beautiful Island. Earlier I could not visit the crown. This time I could get the tickets and was able to go to the crown. Very very beautiful and amazing place. It was raining but once we got in, it was okay. The security is on the same lines as airport security. There... More

Nice ferry trip over to statue. It is worth seeing close up but the view back over the water to Manhattan was better. We didn't have the right tickets to go up inside the statue- they have to be pre-booked, so it was just a walk round the statue then a wait for the ferry to Ellis Island. The last... More

I was in New York lower Manhattan last week with my wife on business. I had a couple days to myself and the Statue of Liberty was on my bucket list. It was sombering yet so impressive as our shuttle boat approached Liberty Island and you realize how massive the statue really is. This was a special experience for me... More

We went the Friday afternoon that there was a bomb threat and the island was evacuated. Floated on the water for about an hour until they decided that we weren't going back. They were nice enough to honor our tickets the next day, we had booked tickets for the crown months in advance.

Great day, we only went as far as the pedestal, this was far enough to be honest, you would need a good head for heights to go any further (and you would need to book months in advance). Wonderful sight though. Worth a visit.
