We had some extra time, so my family and ventured to the pecos river. There was a river beach, which was free to swim in, a floatind river bridge with a nice playground on the otherside, a snowcone shop, a river tour boat, and rental paddle boats. Nothing crazy, but was a nice afternoon in the summer.

Just spoke to the ranger. The estimated re-open date for the park is summer 2015. Man I really hoping it was open. Its hot, hot, hot out!

The park was well shaded, spent the day watching the boats go by, river swimming, kids loved it.plenty of lifeguards in the roped off section of the river.there are paddle boats and other boating equipment to rent, there is also a tour boat. There are tables and grills spaced comfortably apart.just had a great time ,can't wait to go back.

This is a great place to come with family. The boat tour ride was great and relaxing and their are activities that you can do. It's not crowded. Enjoyed the atmosphere.

A great place to cool off from the mid day sun. We stopped there for a quick picnic under one of the many shaded benches and watched families swimming. A nice family place.

There is a nice playground. Park areas on both sides of river, very clean. It turned out to be a great place for a wedding. Gazebos for shade, some trees, which for New Mexico is great!

Nothing fancy, but it's well kept and with lights. It'll give you something to do after the national parks are closed. There is a bridge laid in to cross to the other side, close to a big building (a local gym/Youth Center). A nice way to spend 45' to 60' before/after dinner.

We went with 2 other couples to the Christmas on the Pecos boat ride. It was very nice! The boat was comfortable, easy to get on and off (no transition - just walk on) - seats were comfortable, motor quiet... soft Christmas music playing. The boat was pretty full, with quite a few children, but no noise, and everyone was... More

I was looking forward to showing my family from out of town how impressive Christmas on the Pecos is. However, we went on the first night and many houses did not have their decorations lit. I felt like a fool making my family stay in Carlsbad an extra day only to find Christmas on the Pecos to be less than... More
