A very interesting look—via reconstructed buildings and live reenactments/demonstrations/lectures—at what life was like generally and, in particular, what life was like for a relatively prosperous farmer before the Civil War. Beautiful place!! Lots to see,. touch and do. Make sure you take the ox cart ride with Charlie the Ox. I don't know of any other place that a family can do that. Our whole family enjoyed our visit to the Island Farm. The kids (ages 1 and 3) enjoyed all the animals, especially feeding the chickens and horse.
