Plenty to do here for kids and adults alike. They have sheep, chickens you can hand-feed, and a couple of Ox. They give hayrides from 1-3pm and that was a big hit with the kids. They also have someone there who will show you some of the games that kids played back in the 1800's. There are buildings and houses... More

I went to Island Farm after looking up places to visit online. I'm so glad I stopped! It is only a small entrance fee and then you roam the property on your own. They let you wander through the buildings and the house, there are no roped off areas which was spectacular! The employees all dress in 1800 era clothing... More

We went with a group of about 7-8 adults and really enjoyed ourselves. The staff were very friendly and answered most of our questions. They showed us some of the games of the early 1900's along with the chores that were encountered on the farm in that time period. It was a reminder of the hardships these people had to... More

Visited the Island Farm with a group of adults. The $6 admission fee was well worth it! The staff are very knowledgeable and engaging. They seem to really like what they were doing. They were very willing to answer any questions you had. Would highly recommend!

Farm is a good value to bring children. My husband and I went to waste some time and it was perfect for that. Fed chickens from my hand which was cool.

My family was down from the Philly area to visit the Outer Banks. Having a 2 year old, we thought this would be a fun place to visit. We were not disappointed. We visited on a rainy day without umbrellas, so we ended spending a lot of time indoors with the staff. I can honestly say they were some of... More

We and a group of friends recently enjoyed a trip to Manteo, NC and were looking for top sites to see in the area. Both TripAdvisor and local tourist information indicated that Island Farm was a good place to visit while in town. As usual TripAdvisor was spot on! We had made a visit to living history farm in Iowa... More

Where we live we have something similar, but at the same time it's completely different. The people were very friendly and nice. Love the chickens and the ox, Charlie. My son loved the ox pulled hay ride & feeding the chickens.

I personally thought this place was only ok, but I give it a better rating because the rest of the family had a great time. The kids loved chasing the chickens and swinging on the swing. Charlie gave us a cool ride around the farm. I was disappointed to find out there are not any cooking demonstrations in the summer... More

Decided to go there because the reviews on trip advisor were so high, but wasn't sure how it would work out. There were a lot of neat and interesting things to learn. It is a self guided tour so if you are not inclined to ask questions then you may find it boring. Our group challenged the kids who ranged... More
