Three generations of us thoroughly enjoyed Island Farm. It's a gem. Demonstrations every day including historic toys and games, blacksmithing, ox-cart rides, etc. Highly recommended.

A wonderful opportunity for young and old alike to travel back in time to see how a farm family lived and worked. All of the interpreters were friendly and well-versed on the living conditions and customs of that day. The animals were very approachable and friendly and the ox-cart ride for the children was really enjoyed by my grandchildren. They... More

I've always been interested in this place and last fall I managed to get into one of their "Draped in Black" halloween tours. Not only was it educational, but it was great fun featuring costumed interpreters and a lantern light tour of the family cemetery plot. A very well thought out and executed program that I would reccomend for all... More

Experience what it was like to live on a pre-Civil War farm. Feed the animals, dress up in the clothes, eat the food, watch children play games of the period, and watch chores being done. A great way to spend a quiet day.

Our grandsons are 2 and 5 and they both loved the Island Farm. The people there were all so interested and interesting. The kids were both fascinated by farm life long ago.

We had such a fun time exploring island farm!! The kids really enjoyed dressing up, feeding the chickens, collecting eggs and helping around the kitchen. They also had a blast playing games from that time period. The adults also enjoyed the games in addition to learning the historical facts provided by the tour guides. The tour guides were extraordinary and... More

we visited the farm with our 3 year old and her grandparents. Everyone had a great time. The cart ride with Charlied the Ox was a big hit as well as tating fig preserves in the kitchen house and taking photos dressed up in period costumes. The staff was really friendly, a must do in Manteo

We really enjoyed visiting the farm. The house with the small winding stairs going up reminded me of my grandmother's house many many years ago. The staff were very friendly and informative. It was a pleasure to see and I would definately recommend it.

The guides on the farm are family members, living close to the farm, they even look after the farm animals when the farm is closed. Very knowledgeable and we even got to try some corn cakes, fresh off the cast iron skillet! Feeding the chickens was great and watching Charlie the ox plow the field was a lot of fun.

Wife and I really enjoyed this lovely attraction and look forward to taking the Grandkids there next time. As a non-profit the relatively small entrance fee goes to continue to restore and improve this historical gem, not line someone's pockets, which is even better. The people are dressed in period clothing and take the time to share their considerable knowledge... More
