This was a walk back in time. Beautiful statues, lovely landscaping and plants. The map was helpful and it is a self-guided tour. Much time and love has gone into this attraction. Also a beautiful view of the Sound. Gift shop is great!

The Elizabethan Gardens was a nice interlude among the wooded pathways and gazing at lovely statuary. Our visit hit a time when spring flowers were over and the summer plants hadn't fully developed but it was a lovely stroll along the paths and looking out onto the Sound.

Was at the Gardens in May 2012 and found it to be nice. Admission price is on average of other garden admissions and you can find a $1 off coupon in any visitor guide/coupon book you pick up at local stores or at the Visitor's Center. This garden is now dog friendly with an admission of $3 for each pet....

Maybe we are spoiled with having longwood gardens so close, but we were very dissapointed in the gardens. We have a membership to longwood gardens which participants in The American horticulture reciprocal admissions program . . . Elizabethan gardens are listed on their site as also participating, but we still had to pay admission.

Then after recovering you wits, you muitter - you got to be kidding, and walk out. Looks to be a nicely tended garden, but I am not coughing up that much money for my...

Easter Sunday was the perfect day to visit the Elizabethan Gardens in Manteo. Because of the early warmth the azaleas had just peaked. The weather was sunny but not too warm - just perfect for a stroll in a beautiful garden filled with flowers, trees, butterflys and fountains.

The Gardens have been a consistent friend for many years. It's character never seems to change and that's good. The addition of more paved walks was the only change we noticed on this trip.
The design, the plants and the friendly staff bring us back at least every few years.
