While this is an incredibly beautiful setting for a cemetery, with views to the bay and ocean, remember that this is a place of final repose for those who have served our country and please behave accordingly. The Scouts put flags on each and every grave on Memorial Day Weekend so it's an especially poignant time to visit, read the... More

There is something uniquely beautiful and honorable about seeing all the American flags at Fort Rosecrans on Memorial Day. If you are in town at that time, then don't miss it.

We drove past this cemetery on our drive out to Point Loma. It is a peaceful, beautiful site located on both the bay and ocean sides of the highway and the peninsula. A salute to all those who rest in this impressive national cemetery.

A visit to Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery is an experience like no other. As you take in the beauty that surrounds you, remembering those who have served their country with honor and taking in the magnitude of this amazing place, you are left speechless. There is NOTHING like watching a beautiful sunset to the west and moon-rise to the East... More

I have several relatives in the Cemetery. I can't think of a nicer final resting place. Easy and pleasant for us living folks to visit. Staff is very helpful should you need their help finding a relative.

...I believe it's full except for cremated remains. This spot is your usual inspiring and understated cemetery for veterans and their family members but it's also one of the most beautiful such settings anywhere with it's views of the bay, ocean and downtown.

My father is buried here. I have lived in San Diego all of my life. I come up here with my family once a year or so. He is buried on the bayside of the cemetery. Years ago, there was just a chain link fence that you could look through or over to see the beautiful view. A couple of... More

This has got to be one of the most beautiful National Cemetery honoring our Armed Forces. The views from Point Loma are spectacular and the grounds are cared for beautifully. As a veteran, I would like to be interred there, but it is full and I will have to settle for the new Miramar National Cemetery. Stroll the grounds and... More

I've lived in San Diego for 33 years but only recently visited Fort Rosecrans Cemetary for the first time to attend the funeral of my senior partner. My wife knows I've looked the world over for cemetaries with an ocean view -- because I have such an affinity for the ocean I've always thought being buried overlooking the ocean would... More

We arrived before the opening of the Monument and decided to check out the cemetery. Did not realize there was a National Cemetery there. It is an amazing setting for such a humbling place. The cemetery is very well taken care of and impressive.
