Should be visited by every person that visits this area. Take a few moments to reflect on what we've been given by those who gave all.

Dedicated in 1882. The cemetery contains the graves of people dating back the the Battle of San Pasqual in 1846. One of my grandfather's is buried here. He died young at age 34 a victim of gas during WW I. The setting is spectacular. It also contains a memorial to the victims of an explosion on the U.S.S. Bennington on... More

Great views from here overlooking the Pacific Ocean on the right and San Diego bay the left. On the Bay side, one can see part of the huge naval complex of the U.S. Pacific Fleet particularly the submarine base.

I had known that there was a large memorial for 3 ships that were sunk in the pacific during WW2. The one for the USS HOEL had the name of my uncle Billy West on it so we decided to visit this memorial on our trip to San Diego and we are really glad we did. The area is beautiful... More

Beautiful views from a location that should also cause us to reflect on the sacrifices made by many for our lifestyles and freedoms. Pacific Ocean views in one direction, and San Diego City and Harbour in the other, with Loma Point just down the road.

San Diego and the bay on one side, Pacific on the other We stopped on our way out to Cabrillo National Monument. The cemetery was so significant we stopped on the way back... More

What a perfect setting for the solemness and honor to be given to our fallen veterans. Gently rolling, beautifully maintained turf with uniform rows of grave markers and a variety of trees, some usually in bloom, make this a special place for reflection, for scenic overlooks of San Diego's magnificent skyline and contemplation of America's war heroes from the past.... I was at Fort Rosecrans Cemetery this year with my family to say a final good-by to my Uncle, a Marine Sergeant in the Korean War. Fort Rosecrans has a 150 year old history, beginning with Civil War era. It is not only a historical place, but is still a very popular military burial place, with new burials restricted to... More
