The beach isnt the prettiest in San Diego but it does have a fairly large dog park. The dogs can run free here. It on the furthest north part of the beach.

Yep a few homeless folks , yep a little noise , yep some doggies , but this area is one of the most chill , laid back spots we've stumbled across. We loved it. Beach was nice , plenty of shells , lots of people , very dog friendly , nice fine packed sand , clean beach. Quite a few... More

This is a very laid back part of San Diego. At times it might be hard to discriminate between the hobos and artsy hippy types. Cool hippy part of town to walk around in and the pier is beautiful. I would recommend stopping here if you were also planning on catching the sunset at the sunset cliffs down the way.... More

The Asheville NC of San Diego- real people, great food, artsy, funky, laid back and a lot of fun! Spent the weekend with my oldest daughter and had a blast! So close to everywhere in San Diego.

Seems this place is a good locals beach, very artsy hippy vibe aswell. Everyone was really laid back and there were plenty of bars and restaurants. I did notice is that everything seemed to be locally owned, did not notice any chain fast food places, or things of that nature. If you are looking for the touristy experience try Mission... More

The beach was beautiful. The café at the end of the pier was an awesome spot for lunch, very reasonably priced, and with fantastic views of the water. Also interesting were the tidal pools, filled with crabs and sea slugs and other cool plant life. The surrounding beach was also a cool place just to walk around and look for... More

The beach was ok. There is a part of the beach that is for dogs so if you like that this might be the beach for you. The shopping area is ok. There are some bars, the standard beach tshirt shops, and restaurants. I am glad I went once but probably would not go again.

This is a great beach which in the evenings (after 4 i think) dogs are allowed at. There a restaurants and shopping near by. Some really fun antique stores. This beach is a bit more low key than places like mission and pacific but there are still plenty of surfers here.

I've been to dozens of beaches in my life. I was here in December so it resembles pretty close to a Pacific Northwest beach, anyone who has ever been to a place like Newport, Oregon would agree. The area is definitely edgy, a bit "rough around the edges" if you will. Much of the housing resembles what you would find... More

We wanted to watch the sunset after the zoo and this was the first thing that popped up!we arrived just in time to watch a beautiful sunset.we found it very easily with the gps, about 10 minutes from the zoo and had no problem parking. We played in the water for about 30 minutes as the sun went down and loved... More
