Great to be by the sea. The area is well kept and life guards are on patrol. The sea was cold at this time of year, but it did not stop a number of folk from swimming-with out wet suits. A safe, child and pet friendly beach. The whole area was relaxed and friendly.

We stayes at Pacific Beach and wanted to check this out on our last night. We wished we would have made it sooner. More interesting stores and better food.

Our cab driver had recommended that we go to Ocean Beach (OB as they call it.) It is a beautiful beach with tide pools at one end, a long pier for fishing/walking/ocean-surf watching/, a beautiful long sandy beach, and an amazing dog beach at the other far end. We are big dog lovers, so we especially enjoyed watching the various... More

This is an absolutely laid back, chilled location in San Diego. Recommended by locals - spent a tremendous afternoon here, soaking up the sun, taking in the surfers plying their skills. Lots of weird, wonderful, colourful personalities around. Tons of eateries and interesting shops selling sorts of hippy gear. I personally love this type of place. Could not get enough... More

Ocean beach is what may be regarded as a funky even a grungy place to spend some time. There is a pier, cliffs, places to eat and a good spot to people watch.

Ocean Beach is really cool. It has this laid back feel to it and it really transcends this funky vibe that you may have gotten back in the 70's or something. I'm getting ready to turn 50 this year and it really resonated with me, it had a great kind of old school "hippy" feel to it. I wish I... More

This is always a great place to visit - the small sidewalk cafes have really good Mexican food and the antique stores are full of a wide range of interesting and eclectic stuff. The walk down to the beach after lunch is relaxing. Alternatively, finding a bar for a beer with a view of the street is a pretty good... More

While staying in san diego we came here often, both by bicycle and car. Beautiful beach, dog friendly area, long quay, Wednesday night market, awesome people watching. Great place to hangout,

We found ourselves here many nights on our trip to San Diego. Maybe because of the location as it's next to Sunset Cliffs. NewPort is the main drag and it's quite ecliptic mix of shops, restaurants, bars and the people. It's mostly a young crowd. There are many on the sidewalks looking for handouts. There's a group of them each... More

If you are looking for a place where the young and old, the experienced and inexperienced traveled all convalesce look no further. Ocean Beach is a beautiful location where the people are friendly and the views are spectacular. There is likely a traveler working on a beautiful and complex sandcastle that exhibits a message of peace and goodwill towards mankind.... More
