The beach was beautiful. The café at the end of the pier was an awesome spot for lunch, very reasonably priced, and with fantastic views of the water. Also interesting were the tidal pools, filled with crabs and sea slugs and other cool plant life. The surrounding beach was also a cool place just to walk around and look for... More

The beach was ok. There is a part of the beach that is for dogs so if you like that this might be the beach for you. The shopping area is ok. There are some bars, the standard beach tshirt shops, and restaurants. I am glad I went once but probably would not go again.

This is a great beach which in the evenings (after 4 i think) dogs are allowed at. There a restaurants and shopping near by. Some really fun antique stores. This beach is a bit more low key than places like mission and pacific but there are still plenty of surfers here.

I've been to dozens of beaches in my life. I was here in December so it resembles pretty close to a Pacific Northwest beach, anyone who has ever been to a place like Newport, Oregon would agree. The area is definitely edgy, a bit "rough around the edges" if you will. Much of the housing resembles what you would find... More

We wanted to watch the sunset after the zoo and this was the first thing that popped up!we arrived just in time to watch a beautiful sunset.we found it very easily with the gps, about 10 minutes from the zoo and had no problem parking. We played in the water for about 30 minutes as the sun went down and loved... More

We had to take our doodle to the beach on our visit and this is the best beach for it! We went at low tide, so there was lots of room for our dog to run with the kids.

This wonderful little beach town has all the fun of a great beach, with surfing, and long walking pier. It is also like time forgot to put in chain restaurants and slick commercialism. Lots of Mom and Pop stores. Funky places to explore. The 60's live here....groovy! Plus this beach town is close to the downtown attractions of San Diego.... More

Love this gritty edgy beach ... Great for watching the surfers and boarders. Not the prettiest beach we've visited BUT a bike ride along the coast we discovered some stunning views - not too be missed. People watching - seeing the real deal- dreadlocks, dogs with neck scarfs and dirty tanned old beach people - fantastic !

On my first day in San Diego, we woke up incredibly early because of out jet lag and drove to Ocean Beach Pier. I was amazed by the amount of people fishing and could not believe how long this Pier was... because it was so early in the morning, the weather was sort of grey-ish... but of couse, the sun...
