From Little Italy we took the bus to Ocean Beach. Filled with quirky shops and people we strolled around town before heading out to the pier. It was fun to watch surfers, fishermen, and birds along the way.

Ocean Beach Pier is one of the longest we’ve walked on the West Coast. Now, the town is a bit tacky, even for a beach town, and the crowd seems a bit rowdy, even during the day. Worth doing once, but not worth a repeat visit.

Gorgeous beach area and waves if your a surfer. The pier is a beautiful walk and see the locals fishing and surfing. Cafe on the pier along with touristy gift items and fishing rod rentals. Go ahead. Try your Luck fishing. Was a nice afternoon and then hit the ice cream bar and Hodads for a beer A cool restaurant.

Not the most beautiful beach has some cool places to eat and the pier is a good place to see the coast. But lots of homeless people all over stray type dogs. Not best place after hours

Great to be by the sea. The area is well kept and life guards are on patrol. The sea was cold at this time of year, but it did not stop a number of folk from swimming-with out wet suits. A safe, child and pet friendly beach. The whole area was relaxed and friendly.

Our cab driver had recommended that we go to Ocean Beach (OB as they call it.) It is a beautiful beach with tide pools at one end, a long pier for fishing/walking/ocean-surf watching/, a beautiful long sandy beach, and an amazing dog beach at the other far end. We are big dog lovers, so we especially enjoyed watching the various... More

This is an absolutely laid back, chilled location in San Diego. Recommended by locals - spent a tremendous afternoon here, soaking up the sun, taking in the surfers plying their skills. Lots of weird, wonderful, colourful personalities around. Tons of eateries and interesting shops selling sorts of hippy gear. I personally love this type of place. Could not get enough... More

Ocean beach is what may be regarded as a funky even a grungy place to spend some time. There is a pier, cliffs, places to eat and a good spot to people watch.

Ocean Beach is really cool. It has this laid back feel to it and it really transcends this funky vibe that you may have gotten back in the 70's or something. I'm getting ready to turn 50 this year and it really resonated with me, it had a great kind of old school "hippy" feel to it. I wish I... More
