We went to visit in afternoon and was so great and beautiful. The water was crystal clear and it was a nice place to walk!
The Sun Set Cliffs are really beautiful. You can take a drive and park anywhere to get out. There's plenty of spots to check out. It's also not strenuous so if you're with someone who isn't very mobil they can still enjoy it.

Drive along the coast all the way up to la jolla beach. Set your GPS to avoid highway, you'll not regret it.
Easy to find, great short stop. Beautiful cliffs. I went during the late afternoon. I would recommend going there for a sunset. Not a lot of tourist traffic.
