The sunsets here are out of this world!

You can sit along the pathways or walk down a ways to the cliff area to see the ocean and sunset all in one picture. Worth the drive...

Walked around the park for a couple of hours prior to sunset. Loved exploring the coastline. Ended up that the clouds rolled in before sunset so there wasn't much of a sunset - but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and saw the beautiful coastline. If you come with kids - BE CAREFUL!!

Parking is scarce, crowds are abundant, cliffs are so so for views. I don't know why this is so popular because the sunset view is the same from the beach as it is sitting at the top of the cliffs with a thousand other people.

The views from the cliffs are AWESOME. Being able to walk out on the cliffs was great! Had young children with us and just had to be mindful of where they were at all times. Stay on the designated areas and you will be fine! Well worth the visit.

A local friend took us to Sunset Cliffs. It is very unique because you have to climb down the cliffs to get to the beach area. Once on the beach you can explore caves and rocky area. If you are willing to get wet, you can travel to more private areas of the beach, where most others won't go. We... More

This beauty is only 11 min from the airport. If you don't go see this you will miss out. The best plan is to do this before you go to the airport. Take a picnic or drinks and hang out here for a few hours and let the last views you see be the immense blue pacific from these cliffs.

While cruising down the coast, we spotted Sunset Cliffs on the bluff overlooking the Pacific. Free parking beckoned and we spent a while admiring the views, crashing waves, surfers, tide pools and grottoes. Delightful.

I visited Sunset Cliffs twice on my trip to San Diego, once at midday and once at sunset. What a truly beautiful and incredible place! Should be noted that at sunset the park area is packed and parking can be tough, but the views are not to be missed!

spectacular shoreline created by eons of surf creating unique cliffs - Low tide would be a better time to visit- found it a bit too windy later in the day- a sick sea lion limited our access to one beach
