My friend and i went to see The Pageant while we were in San Diego. It was exceptionally funny and well-acted. Miss Texas was terrific, but Miss Bible Belt stole the night during her talent performance when she spoke in tongues. My sides and cheeks hurt form laughing so much. Keep in mind that it is satire at its best.... More

The Cygnet Theater, in the Old Town area of San Diego is the place for cutting edge live productions. The programs are lively, professional, featuring both new works as well as plays that have shown on other stages. although the show may be one you have seen else where, please consider attending the Cygnet Theater to see their own exciting... I went to see Cygnet while visiting SD. They produce a diverse season of plays and musicals - old and new in a really nice intimate theater (about 250 seats) that gives every seat a great view of the actors. It is in a really fun part of town so it makes a perfect dinner and theater night. "Mother F-er... More

We loved the The Mother With the Hat, and I recommended it to other people. We were sitting on the side, and the only way to get out of the theater was to go down the steps to the stage and exit, or to go up the stairs and try to get past a row of people. In other words,... More

It was a moment of serendipity when we came across this theatre while wandering through the old town. We booked tickets immediately. I once used the script of the play and did some scenes when I was teaching theatre to young people. The evening was a rip-roaring success. The production was superb, the set the acting, the choreography, all of... More

We were looking for a heart warming feel good live theatre experience so we went to a performance of "Maple and Vine." What we discovered was a NYC type show with a gay advocacy agenda. Artists and performers and for that matter theaters, can "entertain" with whatever material thay choose but don't "spring" controversial matterial on the patrons or they... More

This theater has gained some serious traction in San Diego. It started as a virtual unknown in another location. It has grown into this intimate and cozy theater setting. The cast are amazing. They have a very interesting and eclectic take on some standby performances as well as innovative runs of less known or less utilized plays. If you live... More

We have season tickets to Cygnet and they produce excellent shows (on a shoestring budget) in a small theater in Old Town. there is not a bad seat in the place.

When we lived in La Jolla CA we fell in love with the Cygnet Theater (when it was in a hole in the wall location in a small strip mall). When the Cygnet moved to a "real" theater in Old Town San Diego, a great theater became even better. When we moved back home to our place in Louisiana, leaving... More

We were far more impressed with the Theatre than the production we saw. As far as the production, which was a contemporary version of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, sorry but a little 'out there' for our tastes (i.e. I don't know if the theme would appeal to all segments of the general public, and parental guidance is recommended). But the... More
