My sister and I (both in our mid-late twenties) signed up for the whale watching tour provided by Sail San Diego while visiting in January. The boat was gorgeous and pristine, our captain Kevin was knowledgeable, fun, and determined to find us some whales to see. It was a relaxing tour and the most fun we had on the trip.... More

Sail San Diego will provide your family with a great sailing experience on one of their beautiful sailboats. There is no over crowding and the business is easily accessible by a short taxi ride from the convention center area. Captain Greg Tupaj did a great job teaching us a bit about the art of sailing, he let a couple of... More

Having traveled from NYC to San Diego we wanted to enjoy some sun & have some fun! We had read up on trip advisor on different whale watching cruises and sailing tours. We gave sail San Diego a call in hopes they could accommodate two of us last minute on a Sunny Saturday. Sure enough their owner Michelle booked our... More

Captain Gary was perfect for our group. Very knowledgeable and even let one of our group steer the sail boat. We saw a young whale playing with 2 dolphins. The trip was worth the price even if we had not have seen whales. Hope to sail again with him on next trip to San Diego.

What can I say? An amazing day with Captain Greg aboard one of Sail San Diego's 40 foot sailboats chasing whales and finding them along the San Diego coast. Although the day was overcast we set out on our sail at 9;00 am. Along the way we saw a submarine, a destroyer, a naval research vessel, border patrol, naval security... More

We have used this company multiple times now both for ourselves as well as when company is in town. The Captains are extremely knowledgeable about the area and very personable as well. They leave the cruise path up to you and we have never been on the boat with more than 2 other people. It is like having your own... More

We visited from Nebraska and looked at a lot of companies but was so happy we chose Sail San Diego. Captain Kurt was very knowledable and ensured we had a great time. We saw 8 whales and numerous other wildlife. Great experience we will never forget!

Trip was very good. We saw one VERY LARGE gray whale nearby. John was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the area and handling the boat. The boys thoroughly enjoyed the snacks and there were plenty of life jackets and warm clothing aboard. We did wait almost 30 minutes for our captain to arrive at the gate to let us in... More

Our voyage was scheduled for 1300 but it is best to be at the Marina by 1230. The marina where the sail boats are moored is on Shelter Island. There is no sign that can be seen from the street. A walkway to the right of the Best Western Hotel takes you to the Marina. Just before the access gate... More
