A wonderful day at sea with the whales

Kathy and I had a wonderful time. The boat is a replica of one of the first Amerca's cup racers. It is beautifully maintained and comfortable. The crew and Captain Troy are very accomodating and very capable. Snakes are available but you bring your lunch. The boat can get crowded and you are there with passengers of all abilities. We... We had gone whale watching earlier in the week, and seen both whales and dolphins. But, the idea of this trip really intrigued us. And we weren't disappointed. We'd read the Q&A on the website, and were prepared for the weather. Most folks brought lunch, and we had a fantastic time! The wind was really brisk, and in addition to... More

To actually travel with numerous Grey whales was probably one of the most amazing things that I have ever witnessed...that is until "Humphrey" the Humpback showed up. OMG!!! That whale put in a display was the ultimate "E" ticket (for those of us that remember when Disneyland used a ticket system). I have really thank Capt Joe and the Hornblower... More

Trip was January 8. We saw plenty of whales, and the yacht itself was beautiful. The ride was very smooth, we did not get sick or wet. Had about 60 passengers on board and did not seem crowded at all. Crew and captain were great. Snacks and soda are complementary, though you can bring your own too. Well worth the... More

Everyone onboard this beautiful yacht is so nice and full of info. We saw blue whales, porpoise, and sea lions-as well as Navy Seals headed out for training, and many, many different types of military aircraft and ships. I never in my life thought I'd see blue whales except on TV. A trip on The America changed all of that!... More

We had a perfect San Diego day, 80 degrees, sunny, calm, and whales are migrating back north. The ship is immaculate, the snacks and drinks included were good, the crew friendly, Al knows everything about everything and is great tending to the youngsters. Know there are no chairs- you sit where you can, but it worked surprisingly well. We saw... More

We did the whale watching tour aboard the America on a windy, cool, misty day in January. The mist ended after leaving the harbor but the seas were actually considered high by San Diego standards and although it was very chilly, it was AWESOME for sailing. All the sails were raised (with the help of any passengers that wanted to)... More

What a wonderful way to start the New Year! I would absolutely recommend any family or group of friends to experience this Whale Watching extravaganza! As a San Diego Native I have grown tired of the endless tourism that plagued our coastline, but having spent little time off shore I had no Idea what a treat it'd be to enjoy... More

I took my family aboard America for a sailing/whale watching tour for the holidays. I thought that bringing them aboard the America's cup yacht, would be a great new experience. I have been running sailing, snorkeling, and scuba diving tours for the last 10 years, and have been in customer service for 17 years. I have to sadly say that... More
