Yes, its just another boat trip, but one you will never match again. Sailing on the schooner America, whether for whale watching or cruising, is a trip to the past of historic American yachting, and a most pleasant way to spend most of an afternoon. This replica of the original that started the longest winning streak in all sports, sails... More

We were not able to make the trip due to an illness in the family. We had to cancel at the last second, past the 24 hour cut-off, but Next Level was understanding of our situation. They offered a credit to come back another time, but traveling all way from Chicago, that is probably not going to happen. After going... More

I did Next Level Sailing's STARS AND STRIPES excursion a year ago. It was an excellent sail, the staff was friendly and we all got a chance to try all the stations. One thing: this company no longer operates the retired racing sailboats STARS AND STRIPES and ABRACADABRA. Both of these boats have been moved, I saw them leaving on... More

July 2011 we booked a trip with Star & Stripes. It was cancelled due to fog. We were told we could book again anytime just let them know the date of the cancelled trip. We tried to come a couple years later, (we live in Texas). They were not going to be booking trips at the time we came to... More

My whale watching trip with Next Level sailing was just amazing! We saw several whales, dolphins and sea lions. The staff was really friendly and knowledgeable. It was great to hear their enthusiasm for sailing and the marine life. I’d recommend this tour to anyone who would like to spend four amazing hours out at sea.

We arrived in San Diego harbour and spotted the America straight away ;-) We had a fabulous time from the moment we arrived by the boat untill the end of this excursion. Al made us feel very welcome instantly on the boat. We set of sail and our kids were allowed to help out straight away which made this an... More

From the time we got on the boat till we disembarked we had a great time. Smooth seas and warm weather. Nice crew and a well maintained boat. We saw gray and humpback whales. The boat was not over stuffed with people. Plenty of room to move around. I would highly recommend this trip. Only 1 small negative comment. There... More

My wife and I took a trip on the America whale watching on 3/6/2015. It was worth every penny. It is a bit more expensive than the other daily tours that sail from SD harbor, but, it was well worth it. Plus, it includes entrance to the maritime museum, snacks, and drinks on board (water, soda) - you must pay... More

A last minute decision put my husband and I in the extremely capable hands of the owner and crew of the sailing vessel America. What was described as a three hour whale watching expedition turned into a four hour adventure. Not only was the excursion exciting as we watched whales make a superb showing, but the knowledge and friendliness of... More
