This was a wonderful production on the amazing outdoor theatre! We hooted with laughter and were charmed by the sounds of the animals in the nearby zoo! Magic!

We saw an excellent production of "Rosencrantz and Guidenstern are Dead" at the Summer Shakespeare Festival's outdoor theater. The seats were comfortable. Come prepared for a cool evening; the theater rents blankets if you need them.

Each theatre season presents a wide variety of excellent live performances in one of 3 different settings. The theatres are located in beautiful Balboa Park. The summer Shakespeare Festival is held in an outdoor setting. The rest of the season uses the two remaining theatres, which contain virtually no "bad" seats. The productions are always extremely professional, with wonderful sets,... More

I was so lucky to be able to see a performance of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead at the Old Globe. OK, I will admit that I have always liked Tom Stoppard's plays, but the excellent performances from the entire cast made it a really memorable event. A stunning tragicomical combination of humor and serious philosophy which was entirely engrossing.... More

The Old Globe I am told is a replica of the Old Globe during the time of Shakespear's London. There is a Shakespear festival at the venue as well as other stage plays. Also many pre Broadway plays are staged there before heading to New York. A tour of the Old Globe in Balboa Park is a must for anyone... More

There is always a great selection of different plays to see in the various playhouses. These range from classic Shakespeare to productions that will end up winning raves on Broadway. There is no such thing as a bad seat in any of the venues.

As a well traveled San Diegan I can say that the Old Globe Theatre "complex" offers a range of theatre for all ages. We love comedy and taking friends to the shows in the summer under the stars is wonderful. We love that we can just walk up to book tickets or make reservations over the phone last minute. Every... Good acting but sometimes the plays are not what you want to see. Look at the reviews first. Very limited gift shop. Adequate outside cafe. Shakespeare Festival in the summer is outside theater and a good experience.

The Old Globe in the beautiful Balboa Park is one of my favorite places to visit. If you have a chance to take in one of their live performances of Shakespeare (like Midsummer Night's Dream), don't miss it. Every seat offers a great view, and the performers are all wonderful.
