We've been here with our family on a couple of occasions, mostly to see The Grinch at Christmastime each year. We love coming here! The grounds around the theater are incredibly beautiful -- we always get there early just to walk around and enjoy the scenery. There is a great little coffee bistro just outside the theater where we can... More

Set in the wonderful Balboa Park, the Globe Theatre makes it home in a very romantic setting a 10 minute walk across a beautiful bridge from some very nice restaurants. The view of the city lights and the museums at night are not to be missed. The globe theatre actually has three stages - two inside and one outside. So... More

Old Globe always has an exceptional stage production, offering a wonderful experience. The summer Shakespeare Festival is superb. The holiday shows (Dr. Seuss) a must for families of all ages.

This is an intimate theatre just like the one in Stratford that Shakespear put on his plays. It is closed in on the sides but there is no roof, so it is an outdoor theatre. The lighting and sound were both good. The only warning, if you sit in the front row, you may get spit on by the actors.

We traveled to San Diego to attend the summer Shakespeare festival. We saw 2 Shakespeare plays and 1 by Tom Stoppard. As always in our experience, the acting and staging were very good. We will return.

A kind of recreation of England's of Shakespeare theater which houses performances of things other than plays by the old bard. Some productions are done in an outdoor theater next door which has stage elevators and lots of mechanical stage systems. Take a sweater or wear a long sleeve shirt for outside performances. Evenings can be cool

Simply enjoyed the classic plays with the sky overhead. You will lose yourself in this venue. This is not for those needing instant thrills every second, but it is for those that appreciate the real and true classics and arts. I like to dress up for this venue, and sometimes even wear period costume on occasion, with friends. Please bring... More

This was a wonderful performance of The Merchat Of Venice. The outdoor theater was perfect for a very warm September night.

Outstanding setting for Shakespeare, and outstanding production. The actors make the language very accessible.

We always purchase the summer Shakespeare series here. The productions are magical including an open stage that utilizes the natural trees behind it among other fantastic visuals. The plaza in front of the Old Globe enclave is a great meeting place, in a great Park (even if you only people watch and dont have tickets) and Molly's Pub serves light... More
