This was the Finest production of a Shakespeare play! I thoroughly enjoyed the Director's interpretation of this play by placing it in 1920's New Orleans. The street scenes and architecture , live jazz music , colorful characters & costumes kept me on the edge of my seat! The actors were first-rate too! The male servant Dromio stole every scene &... The Old Globe Theater is a not-to-be-missed experience, for both visitors and locals alike. This 3-theater complex in the heart of Balboa Park is both a historical monument and a vibrant regional theater! Many Broadway hits have their earliest roots right here at the Old Globe, plus nationally-acclaimed directors bring their shows back after their New York run. The Old... More

During our recent trip to SD we went to the outdoor theater at Old Globe to see Shakespeare's "A Comedy of Errors". The cast and the production greatly exceeded our expectations. best performance we have seen in quite some time. In addition the outdoor theater is unsurpassed as a theater venue.

I've been to Old Globe before, when I lived in San Diego. Now that I'm visiting, I made a point to see "The Comedy of Errors." I expected a good presentation. What I witnessed was far beyond that -- it was one of the most exquisite performances I ever witnessed. A must see!

We saw the musical Kiss Me Kate here and it was awesome. It is smack right in Balboa Park, which is beautiful in itself. The theatre is new, bold, and gorgeous and the outside of it has a cafe and store etc. It is the total package and totally worth visiting for a show!

The production was GREAT! We were seated in Row G; I loved the seats. However, there truly is not a bad seat in the outdoor theatre. I was worried about parking in Balboa Park, but that was solved by eating dinner at The Prado. Our 6 pm reservation got us there early enough to park for free. I would see... More

This roofless theater is such a treat to visit- especially in the summer for the Shakespeare productions. High quality acting and it is very interesting to see how the plays can be adapted to use simple sets and be preformed outdoors. This years "Twelfth Night" was an absolute pleasure, great fun!

We recently saw SHakespeare's Twelfth Night in the outdoor theater. The production and actors were excellent. Be sure to take a jacket or blanket with you. They do rent blankets. It drizzled lightly for about fifteen minutes which added to the outdoor feeling of the play. Fortunately, it then stopped and the play continued to be enjoyable. The snack bar... More

Saw Arms and The Man, a G B Shaw romantic comedy, which was great. Always a delight to visit this theatre any time of year, fall and spring (inside) and summer (outside theatre), including Shakespeare plays. Beautiful setting in Balboa Park near downtown San Diego, Ca.
