I brought my 11- and 15-year old kids so they can experience outdoor theater and was not sure they would appreciate Othello....but that was one of the highlights of our trip! The theater was intimate (no bad seats), the actors were amazing, and the setting in the middle of Balboa Park was really cool. Next time we visit San Diego,... More

This is the best venue for live drama in Southern California, at least in my opinion. The have a great variety of plays from Shakespeare to modern, and everything in between. Each play is individually produced for the Old Globe, so it is not a location just for summer stock. Overall, a great experience each time we go.

This is one of our top theaters in San Diego ! Many pre-broadway productions ... The summer out-door theater can't be beat !

We saw the opening night of 'Into the Woods', and the cast did a great job. Great story - for any age. The theatre itself is lovely too. It's not too big, has good acoustics, pricing for shows is reasonable for the quality of the show. Get the least expensive seats you can as there are no bad seats (for... More

Went for Othello on the last night. Formidable cast and excellent staging. I really enjoyed the music, innovative, added a lot. Not my first choice of Iago, but Blair Underwood was outstanding, as was Amelia. The setting was unbeatable, lines of sight were excellent, acoustics great. Definitely a great addition to the culture of SD.

The charm of the theater and the power of the performances of two outstanding actors, coupled with an excellent supporting cast, combined to produce a thoroughly enjoyable, riveting evening. It is a show and an environment everyone should see. Thanks for a memorable evening

The Old Globe theater is located in Balboa park near all the museums and honestly walking around I felt like I was back in Europe. We saw the Fiasco Production of Into the Woods at the Old Globe and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We were super impressed with quality of the show. When I bought my tickets... More

Outstanding performance!!! The Globe has no bad seats and the actors are beyond amazing and talented. It is such a great way to spend an evening. I go as often as I can. The price is SO reasonable for the caliber and value of the shows. They are just beautiful. The café at the Globe is great for a casual... More

I am one of those volunteer workers/ushers at the Globe. We come down quite early to read books and get lunch before our team meets at 12:30. When we "get" to go inside, it's to prepare programs in the lobby and hear the day's specifics explained to us. We aren't allowed to go into the inner theater either as the... More
