Easy to get here -- not as easy to park. We weren't "beach prepared" but enjoyed our time walking in the sand, people watching, testing the local activities. Renting a bicycle, walking on the beach, having ice cream or frozen yogurt, watching the surfers, the vintage California cars -- it is all part of the experience. We had a delightful... More

I' ve spent a lot of time over a few years in the Mission Beach/Mission Bay area. When in San Diego can't imagine not visiting even if I only have a couple hours. I often stay at Bahai Resort, right on the beautiful bay and just a ten minute walk to Mission Beach. It's fun vibrant area. The show stopper... More

You take Bus 8 from Old Town right to the corner of Mission Blvd. Get off and walk across the street 1 block to the Ocean Boardwalk. You will see the Belmont Park roller coaster. There are other rides too. Find the Wave House eatery which has sand for a floor. You can eat, have cocktails, and watch amateurs ride... More

We were dropped here on Sunday evening at the recommendation of our Lyft driver. It wasn't at all what we were expecting. Most of the beach front was closed and there seemed to be a plethora of wasted 20 somethings and sketchy-looking folks.

We stayed in this area and found it a bit desolate. Maybe it was because of Winter. Next time I would stay in PB or La Jolla where there is a bit more activity and a nicer vibe.

We are a family that traveled cross country starting at the Atlantic ocean in Salisbury, MA and not ending, but stoping in the Pacific ocean at Mission Beach, CA. My wife had been here before while on buisness. This is why we chose this spot. Well I'm glad we did. The beach was huge and busy! Took a nice walk... More

We walked the beach for about 3 miles. I found 3 intact sand dollars. It is the first time in all of the beaches I have been on that I have ever found sand dollars! Got them and all of the sea shells home in one piece! It was like being a kid again!

Mission Beach is a great place to hang out, have a run, walk, bike, fly a kite, have a picnic, go waterskiing early in the morning or at sunset when the winds calm down, but sometimes there are events that make nasty traffic snarls. It's best to check with the locals or find a San Diego App. that updates you... More

We spent the whole day at Mission Beach and found it to be a great place to sunbathe. The beach was busy but there was plenty of space and we were able to have a peaceful time. I went for a run around midday and saw a bit more of the place although there wasn't as many places to eat/drink... More
