This beach is more of what we call a "city beach" on the east coast. Lots of people crowded together on the outskirts of a major city. Nice for kids with a small amusement park and free parking. Great wave rider at wavehouse.

The beach is abuzz with swimmers and beachcombers. the beach is sandwiched between the Coronado Hotel and the Marine Airbase. there are constantly Ships, Helicopters, and Planes going up and down the coast. the beach is well patrolled the view is great. the one issue we experienced was, there are few access points to get from the road to the... Been to this beach a number of time for the surf. The surf is great for beginners and have bought my 10 year old son to surf here a couple of times. Note bring a decent wetsuit as water can be cold!

Definitely a young, energetic crowd. Lots of surfers. Easy to rent beach equipment if you fly in. Book a place early if you want beachside.

Always such a good time. The beach is always very crowded, but it's great people watching. The restaurants along the boardwalk are very good and the shops are very reasonable.

On a Wednesday evening in July the park was not at all crowded. After 6 p.m. It becomes dog friendly. We were able to walk with our dogs through the park, along the boardwalk, then down to a sandy beach with clear bright water. The park is clean and lush, open and airy. There were people biking, skating, fishing, jogging,... More

We tried visiting this beach, but couldn't-no parking what so ever. We tried 3 or more different areas, and there was no parking along with a ton of other people trying to find parking. Traffic horrible trying to get into Mission Beach too. I guess you either have to go very early, or arrive on a motorcycle so you can... More

Love this beach. I've been coming here for decades and while it has changed a little it is still just as much fun as it was. I brought my family here and we've had a blast. The only thing I'd say about this place is horrible is the bathrooms. It smells horrible and they haven't been cleaned in probably oh... More

So much going on so much to watch just a great time overall at this beach. Can get very busy but in the end just adds to the excitement
