Ward Meade Park features an early era Topeka home, a garden of labeled trees, flowers, plants and so on, plus a number of older buildings moved in. There's a drug store, a blacksmith shop, a train depot and many others. Go to Ward Meade when the weather is pleasant and you will have a pleasant experience. While driving there, go... More

I really like the old towns from back in the day. This place had it. I didn't like that the buildings were closed, so you couldn't see inside.I really loved walking in the botanical garden and seeing the different varieties of flowers and trees. I would recommend that you stop in the Potwin Drug store and have a ice cream... More

The volunteer staff hosts an evening of history and dishes cooked in the fireplace of the log cabin. It was my favorite sort of evening, celebrating a family birthday and learning something new. Our middle school children enjoyed it. I would not really recommend it for young children though.

I learned that nothing is open on Sundays before noon. I was hoping to spend some time in Topeka exploring on the way from Manhattan to Kansas City but I gave up.

We were going to get married in Rocky Mountain National Park but then it flooded in 2013. With a week to go, we booked the chapel at Ward Meade and were amazed at how beautiful everything was. It was a perfect location and I'm blessed that we chose it for our special day. The gardens made for wonderful pictures and... More
