I've visited ward Meade a couple times...different times of year...never planned. It's always a joy! There are a couple of shops that seem to always have some one manning the helm. I haven't been refused entry at all. The gardens are fun to walk through even with a teenage child! Then there are the festivals... Apple Fest!...fresh apple cider! Need... More

Great Education for kids and adults. Often has festivals and a variety or foods and interests. Parking is good but at worst a block or so walk. A good 3 hour review.

I love this place. But a few secrets about this place. The old drugstore sells old fashioned soda. Syrup and seltzer water. It's like going back in time to when I was a kid. Try the green river. They also have another feature, they will do hearthside dinning. The meals are cooked over an open fire in the fireplace and... More

Visit a time gone by over a hundred years ago when life was much simpler but much harder. The grounds are beautiful. The buildings are all representative of what life was like on the Kansas prairie over a hundred years ago. Enjoy a phosphate or a Green River at the soda fountain. Very cool.

I mostly go hear to enjoy the arboretum / botanical garden. But the Ward Meade house is interesting to visit, and the village of antique business buildings (a pharmacy, a train depot, a old school house, etc) is of interest if you have youngsters of the right age with you.

Taylor my three year old had a blast in the old school house, the train depot and the store. We have been multiple times before but this is the first time she could run around.

Nice turn of the century type buildings and beautiful grounds. Very compact area but really quite a bit to see and do if you are in to this type of thing. Spring brings lots of tulips in bloom and they keep the grounds planted all summer long. They also have a couple of festivals during the year and several ongoing... More

Historic drug store with unique "Brown Bread Ice Cream" and other flavors of hand dipped ice cream. Floats, ice cream sodas & old fashioned candy make this soda fountain a "must visit". There is so much to see and do at Ward Meade Park. Ask about the antique dental & doctor equipment above the drug store. Don't miss the one... More

Old Prairie Town at Ward Meade Park is a hidden treasure in Topeka, Kansas. It is nestled in an older part of the city and unless you know it is there you might overlook it. About half of the grounds consists of the Old Prairie Town. Only two of the buildings, Pharmacy and General Store, are open to the public.... More

We took a tour of the grounds and it was fascinating. The tour guide was very informative. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
