This store is full of history. The staff enjoys visiting with you and sharing some of the unusual things they have in the store. They still sell guitars.

I just love an old fashioned hardware store and this one even comes with an Elvis story. Stop by and I'm sure the friendly owner will tell you the story too!

As you visit downtown Tupelo, you will want to stop by the hardware store where Elvis and his mother went shopping for his 10th Birthday. The store, now in the 4th generation of the Booth family, will make you feel welcome and love telling the story as they show you to the duct taped "X" in front of the sales... More

The story goes Elvis wanted an air rifle or a bike for his birthday....his mother wanted neither as they were both likely to injure him one way or another...he got a guitar...great place to visit if you're doing the whole Elvis trail from his birthplace up into Memphis.

This place has not changed either, they have one person who waits on Elvis fans, can you believe it. Again as in the whole town the people are friendly and great. The lady tells the story about Elvis and waits on you. Had to buy a t-shirt.

Just stepping through the door you could feel like the day Elvis walked in with his Mom for his first guitar (although apparently he wanted a rifle). It's got a nice corner set up to where Elvis got his guitar. We talked to the Owner and he was very nice to talk with and this was the highlight of our... More

You can get just about any hardware you need at this diversified, old-fashioned, general hardware store, but don't leave until you've been given the grand tour of the guitars! This is where Elvis Presley, as a child, bought his first guitar. You can have your picture taken where he bought it. We even had Christmas cards made from the picture... More

I was surprised that for as much marketing that is done to promote the hardware store as "the place" where Elvis's music career began that a visit to the store was very, well, underwhelming. I expected there to be more, but I entered the store and it was just a hardware store. If you look closely there is a very... More

PAH-LEEZ It has been suggested Elvis's parents bought a guitar at this store in 1940's. There's always been some suggestions of "this or that" about Elvis. You know, The next time I'm at the 7-11 store in Nampa Idaho, I'm going to ask him the answer. I'll agree with other reviews that perhaps it may be nice to see a... More

From a nostalgic perspective, visiting a store where a rock and roll legend bought his first guitar is pretty cool. From the perspective of visiting this hardware store as a tourist attraction, or some kind of shrine, it is a bit odd. The cool stories that others have told about visiting the hardware store, I did not see anyone telling... More
