We had visited Gracelands last year as part of our roap trip and loved it, this year we incorporated Tupelo into our itinerary so we could visit a few more Elvis related themes. We entered the store thinking no one would pay any attention to us, how wrong we were! A lovely gentleman named Howard called over to us he... More

We love visiting old businesses with a lot of character and this wasn't a disappointment. Now encompasses 3 stores, but the original looks like it did 75 years ago. a very friendly and interesting salesman kept chatting us up and pointing out interesting items and historical information. We really enjoyed ourselves and ended up buying a few things. If you're... More

We actually came to Tupelo for the David Jeremiah rally at the BanCorp South Arena. Since we came from over 4-1/2 hours away, we had to spend the night. We decided tomake a mini-vacation out it and to visit the Elvis Birthplace and Museum. We ate at Johnnie's Drive-In and got to sit in the "Elvis Booth" which was great.... More

WOW!! I was absolutely surprised the moment I walked thru the door, I had no idea, I was simply looking for a hardware store to get a key made, and I wound up spending an hour there. this was like stepping back 50 yrs, just a simple old fashion hardware, I loved it, I believe they have somewhere in there... This place is like walking back in time and we all need that every once in a while. From the time you walk in you are greeted by a friendly staff that loves to talk about Elvis or any other subject. It was neat to stand in the store where rock and roll was started. I could all most feel... More

It's like walking back in time when you enter the history is right in front of you. The stories you hear are amazing and when you stand on the same spot that Elvis did when he brought his first guitar sending shivers up you spine.

This hardware store is a great place to go for two reasons: if you need almost anything at all including some very nice gift items and also to learn about Mississippi history. This is the store where Tupelo native, Elvis Presley, got his first guitar. It's an awesome store with the most friendly staff you can imagine.

A marvellous step back in time – this store is almost a capsule for a bygone age! There can’t be many traditional stores remaining like this which is a shame. Their biggest claim to fame is that this is the actual store Elvis Presley’s mother bought him that original guitar that started his eventual rise to fame (you can still... More

This was the place where Elvis' mother took him to buy his first guitar when he was eleven. The store hasn't changed a bit since those days! And the staff are lovely and take the time to tell you the stories as if you were the first person who has ever asked!

This was a must see while in Tupelo. The staff was so friendly and willing to talk at length and tell stories about their encounters and knowledge of Elvis. We spent as much time in this store as we did at the birthplace. Original flooring has the X to mark the spot the King stood. The even took our pic... More
