The Nutcracker is always a treat, no matter what! I was so happy to see a woman conductor, unfortunately, she was late for at least 4 entrances, the dancers were so professional, they just went right ahead as if they were dancing to music any way. What a shame the dancers can not still enjoy the space of the Wang... More

Brilliant dance in a really interesting theatre - a great night out and a great thing to do for the Christmas season

Saw The Nutcracker here last night. Beautiful show and beautiful venue! I would love to rate Boston Ballet with an "excellent" but there is no need for the prices they have for food and beverage! I was horrified. If I was to return I would plan to not drink anything here because it was so expensive for low end liquor... More

I might not be a critic of the ballet, but from what I can tell, and to a casual observer, the Boston Ballet's performance of the 'Nutcracker' was excellent. It moved quickly, told the story with a bit of humor and was accompanied by a good orchestra. Enjoyed it.

It's been a few years since I've seen the Nutcracker, the last time being a dismal production at Lincoln Center in NYC. Fortunately, Boston Ballet's production is charming and brings a Boston tradition back to life while maintaining some of the links to years past. For the Dec 17, 2014 production, principal dancers Ji Young Chae and Junxiong Zhao were... More

After an opera visit to the Metropolitan in New York I was enchanted with the Boston Opera House. What a wonderful atmosphere and sense of grandeur. The Nutcracker itself was a delightful visual experience with beautiful dancing by all the cast but in particular the Russians, the Arabian couple who were awarded the biggest cheer and the Sugar Plum Fairy... I saw the 2014 season production of the Nutcracker on a Sunday evening. It was phenomenal! Every dancer - from a lead soloist to a chorus dancer to a child - every performer was remarkable. The sets were charming and special effects were magical and the costumes were stunning. A movie screen can't compare with what the Boston Ballet does... More

Though the Boston Opera House is a bit of a hike (and expense) if you don't live in the city, it's worth the trek for the Boston Ballet. There are a few parking garages in the area, but most people choose the Millennium Place Garage under the Ritz. Parking here will run you $25 for weeknight performances. Doors typically open... I was dragged kicking and screaming to what I thought would be another "Same Old" performance of this classic. I was spellbound for the entire performance. Superb scenery and costumes, lively pacing and full of fun surprises. Excellent orchestra interpretation. Even the longer second act sparkles along. DO reserve orchestra seats-you'll miss too much from the balcony.
