We always try to get a hopper bus when we visit a city for the first time, and the driver was excellent. We were the only ones on the bus, so our driver gave us a really good narrative of things that interested us as well as the full tour, recommending places to visit en route. Will definitely use this... More

I highly recommend to take this tour. All the drivers are very polite and know so much about Boston's history. I want to come back and do it during the summer again. I learned so much of beautiful Boston. It's very convenient with kids, my two boys like it and more because we did the "freedom trail" walking before so... More

We were fortunate to have excellent and informative guides. We liked the option to get off and on at different stops. We really enjoyed our trolley tour in Boston!

Tour was a joke. Took us no where that was geared towards lights or holidays. It was a bumper to bumper tour of shopping hot spots and busy main strips. The tour guides did well, but you cant put lipstick on a pig and expect to have a Jennifer Anniston. Would definitely NOT do again...

I was in Boston for my honeymoon and even before I said anything about it they took great care of us and treated us well. Then after they heard it was our honeymoon they went above what we could have asked for. Very friendly and funny too!!!

Good but not great, tour guide and driver were knowledgeable and fun but the tour was much shorter than expected. Left wanting a lot more.

We really enjoyed this tour itself while on the trolley and it is extremely useful to do the whole circuit and then you know what you want to go back to. This is a great thing given you get 3 days on your ticket if you have the time. Our guide knew pretty much everything and seemed highly educated, very... More

The guides who present Boston history vary in quality. Most omit women's history--Esther Forbes, Harriet Tubman, Anne Hutchison, Mary Dyer--and concentrated on baseball and Paul Revere. Buses are comfortable and warm on rainy days. Drivers look out for the safety of elderly riders and children. Most will answer questions.

This was a very calm ride, with intriguing facts along the way. On and off option is nice, but may need to wait 10-15 minutes for next tour bus, if you get off. Not a good wait in cold weather. Overall was a pleasant tour.

Staying in Charlestown

Neighborhood Profile
Charlestown
Charlestown’s hilly roads, narrow streets and gaslight lamps, make it an enticing neighborhood to visit. Follow the Freedom Trail over the Washington St bridge from the North End or take the scenic water locks to Paul Revere Park. Walk through City Square and stroll down cute Main street, wandering up the windy residential streets to Monument Square, where you can learn about the city’s history along with a great view of Boston at the Bunker Hill Monument. While it’s not a huge area, there are some excellent restaurants. Find your way to the Charlestown Navy Yard, which is a developing area with lots of condos and an additional site for Massachusetts General Hospital research centers. Here you will also find the USS Constitution Museum. After you’re done, hop on an MBTA ferry at the dock on Baxter street and zip on over to Long Wharf and the New England Aquarium.
