“Very knowledgeable docent - average period house”

The house itself was an average period home - what we really enjoyed was the knowledgeable docent and the history of Beacon Hill introduction in the beginning of the tour. We combined our visit with the "Walk to the Sea" - probably wouldn't recommend going just for the museum. Make sure to ask for the AAA discount. More

“Decent House Museum with Informative Docents”

I visited the Harrison Gray Otis House museum after hearing about it from a friend. I enjoyed the house but didn't love it. There are many parts of the house that are not preserved and are closed off to the tour. We did have a great female docent who talked clearly and loudly and answered most of the group's questions.... More

This house is a great way to start a walking tour of Beacon Hill. It's a good example of Bulfinch architecture, and the interiors show gracious living during Federalist times. Our docent was excellent! More

You probably won't be able to see and do everything you'd like to while you're in Boston, so don't waste your time at the Otis House. Compared with other historical sites, little is known about the family who built the home, and much of the furniture and decorating is not original to the house, but is historically accurate to the...
