Enjoy an outing on one of the most scenic sections of urban river in the country. An experience on the Charles River from our Boston location in Allston/Brighton is a wonderful respite from the surrounding city, with parkland on both shores and rowers plying the waters. Head downstream and you'll encounter local colleges (Harvard, M.I.T., and B.U.) and eventually the Esplanade (a great picnic spot!) and the unforgettable Boston skyline. This nine-mile stretch of river has no current, allowing painless round trips. However, renters can also enjoy one-way trips to or from our Cambridge location in Kendall Square — a unique way to see the city!

I visited this location as a team meeting outing with about 7 of us. It was a great time. I had been kayaking before on "sea kayaks" which the paddler sits on, rather than in. These were easy enough to get in and out of and the staff was great helping stabilize the kayak at the dock while you board... More

If you are a first-time paddle board rider (as I was) you know you're going to fall in once at least (as I did) It's comforting to know that the Charles is much cleaner than in years past. The staff at Charles River Canoe & Kayak check your life jacket before you get on board your canoe - kayak -... More

I have used all 4 of Charles River Canoe & Kayak's waterfront locations on the Charles River and have never been disappointed. The annual rental pass is a steal if you like variety in your sports equipment and put-in locations (stand up paddleboards recommended on Soldier's Field Road; canoes in Newton and kayaks in Auburndale and Kenmore!) There is rarely... More

This is definitely the way we wanted to spend the day wondering around the banks of the Charles River. The river made us feel like getting away from the buzz that is Boston and gave us a feel of being on the country side versus a large city. A must do while in Boston!

I took this tour with my wife on a cloudy summer day. I've lived in Massachusetts for decades but this tour allowed me to see Boston from an entirely new perspective and learn some things I did not know before. The tour of the Navy Yard was especially cool. Neither my wife nor I are very experienced kayakers but the... More

My daughter and I did this yesterday and we had a hoot! Checking in was a bit confusing as they have a tent to check-in at and a trailer to check out at but they are not labeled very well. Once checked in though the process for us at least was quick and easy. We went on a Saturday about... More

This is such a great way to spend some quality time outdoors without leaving the metro area. My wife and youngest son love kayaking and the older one and I like to be in a canoe. So this works out perfect for the four of us. If you leave from the location on Soldiers Field Road, you have the choice... More

My friends and I really enjoyed kayaking at Charles River, Boston! We had to take basic "test" as first timer to understand the rules and safety applied. As none of us know how to kayak, we seek assistance to give us some advice. Well, the young guys spent only 1min to explain the basic method of kayaking and off we... More
