Enjoy an outing on one of the most scenic sections of urban river in the country. An experience on the Charles River from our Boston location in Allston/Brighton is a wonderful respite from the surrounding city, with parkland on both shores and rowers plying the waters. Head downstream and you'll encounter local colleges (Harvard, M.I.T., and B.U.) and eventually the Esplanade (a great picnic spot!) and the unforgettable Boston skyline. This nine-mile stretch of river has no current, allowing painless round trips. However, renters can also enjoy one-way trips to or from our Cambridge location in Kendall Square — a unique way to see the city!

If you are visiting Boston and do not know what to do, this is what you should be doing. It is a fun and great way to see the city from a unique vantage point. You will get great pictures, a little exercise, and have a lot of fun. It is also very reasonably priced. This is worth doing.

I purchased a membership this year and have loved every single time I have gone out. All 20-30 times! I have enjoyed going from the Kendall location, enjoying the beautiful skyline, paddling by the esplanade. With $1.00 per hour parking after 4 in a nearby garage ( with stamped ticket) combined with discounted dinner ( also with a stamp) in... More

I am doing two separate reviews because I have kayaked from 2 different locations. In July a group of us rented kayaks from Boston Canoe and Kayak and launched from their Allston Brighton location. There was plenty of parking, we were required to take a short quiz on boating safety and the staff were attentive to our safety needs. I... More

(Disclaimer: I live in Boston and this is one of my favorite things to do for a casual day in the sun or some exercise on the wahter.) A kayak tour provides a perspective of the city that is unattainable from land. They charge based on the time you're out, so I see a lot of people rush out and... More

We rented at the Waltham location, right behind Magaritas restaurant. The staff was very helpful - they help you get in and out of the boat. I had a very bad experience in a river in NH where the staff was not helpful at all and the river was very hard - we got stuck many times on rocks and... More

My husband and I rented a double kayak. We had such a fun time the river was nice and calm we had a little wake from a few boats going by. Saw lots of geese. ducks and turtles. We would definitely recommend this.

We had a fun time starting in Allston/Brighton and ending at Kendall Square in Cambridge. Kayak rental process was easy and the staff was very helpful. We loved that we could do a one way rental- we just had to figure out which bus to get back to our car at the end of the day. But what a great... More

This is great for people learning to kayak/canoe/paddle board as it's a quieter area of the river. Be aware that the pretentious "rowing club teams" demand river respect but you must also remember that you are the bottom of the river totem pole behind sails, motors etc. The staff are helpful and cater to all ages. It's amazing how quiet... More

The great thing about this activity is the easy accessibility, just pick a weekend when the weather is good, and hit the river and enjoy paddling.
